GNAC student-athletes celebrate and share
their #WhyD3 through academic and athletic success
WINTHROP, Mass. — For the past eight years, the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) has emphasized the importance of the National Collegiate Athletic Association's (NCAA) Division III Identity Initiative by celebrating NCAA Division III Week as a way to showcase the academic, athletic, and other pursuits embracing the "Discover, Develop, Dedicate" motto of Division III.
This year, from April 2-8, the GNAC and its 13 member institutions shared their #WhyD3 experiences through recognizing academic and athletic success, positive community outreach, leadership opportunties, campus involvement, and more.
MONDAY, APRIL 2
The GNAC began the week with a D3 Week welcome on social media to encourage everyone to use the official hashtags: #D3Week #NCAAD3 #WhyD3 #myD3 and honored its weekly Corvias Players of the Week for their accomplishments on the field/court. | https://bit.ly/2qi9ERQ
TUESDAY, APRIL 3
Rivier University junior dual-sport student-athlete, Mikayla Ramsdell, took charge of the GNAC's Twitter and Instagram accounts to provide an inside look at a "Day In The Life" of a field hockey/softball mathematics secondary education major on campus in Nashua, N.H.
WEDNESDAY, APRIL 4
On #WhyD3Wednesday, the GNAC shared its mission statement and commitment to our core values: Integrity, Excellence, Diversity, Equity, Community. We also encouraged everyone to wear lime green in support of the National SAAC's Mental Health Awareness Initiative to #BreakTheStigma
THURSDAY, APRIL 5
Suffolk University junior baseball student-athlete, Kevin Sinatra, signed onto the GNAC's Twitter and Instagram accounts to give a behind-the-scenes look at the college "gameday" experience for a public relations major in Boston, Mass.
FRIDAY, APRIL 6
National Student-Athlete Day
The GNAC is proud to serve 3,178 student-athletes on 189 teams representing 25 institutions (13 full / 12 associate members) across 20 championship sports in 2017-18.
