2009-2010 GNAC Men's Basketball All-Conference Awards Announced

First Team All-Conference

Player of the Year

Albertus' 6'6'' sophomore forward, Ray Askew, has been named to the GNAC's first team all conference and has been selected as the 2009-2010 Player of the Year. Askew leads the league in rebounds with a total of 303 (12.1), tops the offensive (4.4) and defensive (7.7) rebounds. Additionally the sophomore is ranked 2^nd in the league for scoring with 558 points, with an average of 22.3 points per game. Askew makes the boards with 6^th in field goal pct (.512), 8^th in steals (1.4), 8^th in blocked shots (1.2),

Defensive Player of the Year

Emerson's sophomore Jeremy Shannon was named to the first-team all-conference and also named Defensive Player of the Year. Topping the charts in assists, with an average of 5.2 per game, Shannon is currently ranked 7^th in scoring with 332 points, averaging 15.1 points per game. The forward is ranked 7^th in rebounds (7.3), 11^th in field goal pct (.489), 4^th in steals (2.0), 6^th in assists turnover ratio (1.2), 3^rd in defensive rebounds (6.7) and 3^rd in minutes played (35.1).

Emerson's dynamic duo includes senior Bryan Rouse who was also named to first team all-conference. Rouse is ranked 4^th in scoring with 495 points, averaging 19.8 points per game. Rouse is ranked 15^th in field goal pct (.480),  6^th in free throw pct (.770), and 10^th in total minutes played 785. Rouse also was honored as GNAC Player of the Week for two consecutive weeks.

Johnson & Wales' sophomore LaMonte Thomas was selected to this year's all conference first team after leading the league in scoring with 605 points, averaging 24.2 per game. Thomas is ranked 17^th in rebounds (5.4), 9^th in assists (3.1), 5^th in free throw pct (.789), 14^th in steals (1.4), 10^th for three point fg pct (.375), 5^th in three point fg made (2.5), 10^th in assists turnover ratio (.7), 10^th in defensive rebounds (4.6), and leads the league in minutes played with 35.9.

Lasell's Javon Williams was named to the first-team all-conference with a rank of 3^rd in scoring by tallying 536 points and averaging 20.6 points per game. Williams is ranked 3^rd in rebounds (8.8), 5^th in field goal pct (.538), 12^th in free throw pct (.711), 3^rd in steals (2.1), 10^th in blocked shots (1.1), 3^rd in offensive rebounds (3.7), 7^th in defensive rebounds (5.1), and 2^nd in minutes played (35.8).

Rookie of the Year

Suffolk's Matt Pepdjonovic has been selected as the 2009-2010 Rookie of the Year and also named to the third team all-conference. The freshman is ranked 17^th in scoring with 326 points, averaging 13.0 points per game. Pepdjonovic is ranked 2^nd in rebounds (11.6), 14^th in field goal pct (.485), 6^th in steals (1.5), 7^th in blocked shots (1.3), 2^nd in offensive rebounds (4.0), and 2^nd in defensive rebounds (7.6).

Coach of the Year

Albertus head coach Mitch Oliver was named the 2009-2010 GNAC Men's Basketball Coach of the Year. When he arrived at Albertus in 2007, he turned the basketball team into a winning program. Last season, he led the Falcons to their first winning season in seven years and led them to a GNAC Semi-Final appearance. The Falcons earned the titled of 2009-2010 regular season champs and are currently seeded 1^st place in the GNAC Tournament.
