The GNAC effort raised over $1,900 from the 13 GNAC institutions. The GNAC hosted "Pink Zone" games in February at all 13 conference institutions. The GNAC effort was conducted in conjunction with the Women's Basketball Coaches Association's "Pink Zone" initiative.
The conference raised over $1,900 that was donated primarily to the Kay Yow Fund, with a few other cancer research organizations receiving some of the proceeds.
GNAC institutions raised money and awareness in a variety of ways, including inviting breast cancer survivors to games, wearing pink shooting shirts, asking fans to wear pink, collecting gate proceeds and raffling off prizes.
The WBCA Pink Zone™ initiative is a global, unified effort
for the Women's Basketball Coaches Association's (WBCA) nation of
coaches to assist in raising breast cancer awareness on the court,
across campuses, in communities and beyond.
