GNAC Men's Golf Report: Week 4

(FOR THE WEEK OF SEPT. 24-30)

GOLFER OF THE WEEK

Greg Kalagias, Southern Maine (Jr., Saco, Maine)

In two events, Kalagias was the low medalist. At the UNE Invitational, Kalagias posted a 2-over par 71 to lead USM to the victory. The next day at the USM Cup, a unique event combining pairs playing 6 holes of best ball, 6 holes of scramble and 6 holes of modified alternate shot, Kalagias combined with classmate Ryan Dee to shoot an event record 7-under par 64 to lead USM to its third straight win the in the event. USM has won five of seven events this season, and had one runner-up finish.

 

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Curtis Merritt, UMass Dartmouth (Fr., Wareham, Mass.)

Fired two-day total of 155 (77-78) for Corsairs on par-70 North Kingstown Golf Course layout at Johnson & Wales Invitational, helping lead UMD to third place in event.

 


WEEK 4 HONOR ROLL
Claudio Soukamneuth, Johnson & Wales (RI) (So., Cranston, RI) - Soukamneuth won the JWU Fall Match event as he fired a three-under 67 on Sunday to finish the tournament at one under par at 139 (72-67).
