Sharks Claim 2009 GNAC Swimming & Diving Championship
Simmons Swimming & Diving was named the 2009 Great Northeast Athletic Conference Champion on Sunday night, as the Sharks finished the two-day championship meet with 305 team points. The win, Simmons sixth in a row, and eighth in nine years, capped a weekend where 10 GNAC and two pool records fell in one of the fastest GNAC meets in conference history. More than 100 athletes from the GNACs six teams gathered at the Holmes Sports and Fitness Center at Simmons College to race for the championship title.

The 2008-2009 GNAC Women's Swimming Awards have been selected. Click here to see the list of all award winners.

Six GNAC Womens Swimming Teams Competed in the New England Championships
Simmons College earned 251 points to finish 11th overall. The Saint Joseph College (130) swim team set seven school-records, including four relay records, and took a program-best 15th place finish. Second-year program St. Joes (Maine) posted five program record times, including three relay records, and also took a program-best 17th place. The Norwich University Cadets amassed 62 points to finish 18th. Elms College finished with a three-day total of 37 points to finish 20th, while Husson College earned 20 points for a 21st place finish.

Saint Joseph (CT) senior Sarah Wheeler and Saint Joseph's (ME) freshmen were selected GNAC Women's Co-Swimmers of the Week and Saint Joseph (CT) freshmen Mary Provencher was named GNAC Rookie of the Week.

Second Season Monks Off to Great Start
For a team that is only in its second year of existence, the Saint Josephs College of Maine Swim team sure is turning some heads. After its initial season, which set the groundwork for years to come, the team returned this season with an excellent new coach in Rick Horr, great newcomers, and determined returning swimmers.

Lasells senior mens basketball forward Jose Guitian (Miami, Fla.), Rivier junior womens basketball guard Blair Carpenter (Meredith, NH) and Simmon's senior womens swimming member Keri-Ann Areenault (Chester, NH) were selected as the GNAC Players of the Week for December 8, 2008.

Three GNAC Records Fall as Simmons is Crowned 2008 Swimming & Diving Champions
Simmons College, 2008 GNAC Champions December 7, 2008 Simmons College Swimming & Diving was named Great Northeast Athletic Conference Champion of 2008. The win, Simmons' fifth in a row, and seventh in eight years, capped the two-day meet where three GNAC records and two pool records fell.
