Simmons Picked To Win GNAC Women's Tennis Title
Simmons earned the top spot in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Preseason Women's Tennis Coaches Poll, the conference office announced on Wednesday. The Sharks captured the 2008 GNAC championship after posting an 11-5 overall record and 7-0 GNAC record.

Steve Counihan Named Suffolk University Men's and Women's Tennis Head Coach
The Suffolk University Athletic Department has announced that Steve Counihan will return as Head Coach for both Womens and Mens Tennis in 2009-2010. Counihan returns after leading Womens Tennis to a 2007 Great Northeast Athletic Conference Championship.

Simmons Tennis Set for NCAA Tournament
The Simmons College womens tennis team, ranked 25th among Northeast Division III programs, will head to Williams College in Williamstown, Massachusetts where they will face Vassar College on Friday at 11:00AM. Simmons went 12-6 this season, receiving an automatic bid to the NCAA Championship by winning the Great Northeast Athletic Conference title with a 7-0 record. Vassar went 17-4 and won the Liberty League Championship. The winner of the Vassar-Simmons match will move on to play host and defending National Champion Williams on Saturday.

Simmons Women's Tennis Wins 2008 GNAC Championship
WEYMOUTH, Mass. - The Simmons College womens tennis team earned the 2008 GNAC Womens Tennis title with a 6-3 victory over Johnson & Wales University. Johnson & Wales No.1 doubles team of sophomore Melissa Engel (Traverse City, Mich.) and junior all-tournament selection Erienne Gale (Temecula, Calif.) earned the first points with a 8-1 win. Simmons went into singles play leading 2-1 after the No. 2 doubles team of freshman all-tournament selection Maggie Taylor (Yarmouth, Maine) and freshman Liza Pope (West Newbury, Mass.) and the No. 3 doubles of junior Jordan Borash (Marblehead, Mass.) and freshmen Athena Lynch (Andover, Mass.) earned wins.

Suffolk University Women's Tennis Tabbed Preseason Favorite
The Suffolk Rams came out on top of the 2008 Great Northeast Athletic Conference womens tennis coaches preseason poll. The Rams earned seven first place votes for a total of 56 points to outdistance themselves from the rest of the field.

Suffolk Women's Tennis Wins GNAC Championship
WEYMOUTH, Mass.-- A come-from-behind 9-7 win by senior Jen Nelson (Newburyport, Mass.) and freshman Alex Hernandez (Newton, Mass.) provided the deciding point at number two doubles that lifted top-seeded Suffolk to its first-ever Great Northeast Athletic Conference womens tennis tournament championship with a 5-4 dual-match victory over second-seeded Simmons in the 2007 league title match played late Sunday evening at the Weymouth Club.
