GNAC Cross Country Report: Week 5

(FOR THE WEEK OF SEPT. 24-30)

MEN'S RUNNER OF THE WEEK

Peter Bakker, Colby-Sawyer (Jr., Barkhamsted, Conn.)

Bakker led the Colby-Sawyer men with a third place finish out of 67 runners at Saturday's Keene State Invitational. He covered the 8k course in 27:27.8 to help the Chargers finish third as a team. 

WOMEN'S RUNNER OF THE WEEK

Elizabeth Meehan, Rivier University (So., Nashua, N.H.)

Meehan finished 3rd overall at the Lt. Travis J. Fuller Invitational with a time of 20:22 in the 5K race and guided the team to a 2nd place finish. 

MEN'S ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Troy Hendricks, Saint Joseph's College (ME) (Fr., Hiram, Maine)

Hendricks led the Monks with a 28:12 time and finished 73rd over in the Maine State Invitational meet, which featured the majority of top teams in New England, on Saturday. 

WOMEN'S ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Lauren Fisher, Saint Joseph's College (ME) (So., Hampton Falls, N.H.)

Fisher, a first-year runner, paced the Monks and finished 68th with a 24:55 time in the 6K race in the Maine State Invitational meet on Saturday.


WEEK 5 HONOR ROLL

Alison Fairbairn, Colby-Sawyer (Jr., Dover, N.H.) - Fairbairn paced the Chargers at Saturday's Keene State Invitational. She finished fifth out of 53 runners at the 5k race in a time of 20:30 to help the Chargers finish as the runner-up behind the host Owls. 

Hannah Giesing, Colby-Sawyer (Fr., Newbury, Vt. ) - Giesing helped the Colby-Sawyer women finish as the runner-up at Saturday's Keene State Invitational. The first-year finished 10th out of 53 in the 5K race with a time of 20:44.4.

Carisa DeKalb, Norwich University (Sr., San Diego, Calif.) - DeKalb led all Cadet runners with a fourth-place finish in 22:41.7 on the 5k course at Saturday's Vermont College State Championship, hosted by NVU Lyndon. Her finish helped the Cadets take third place in the event.

William Rapsas, Norwich University (So., Lanoka Harbor, N.J.) - Rapsas finished 12th in 31:29.9 on the 8k course at Saturday's Vermont College State Championship, hosted by NVU Lyndon. His finish helped the Cadets take third place in the event.

Eric Knox, University of Saint Joseph (Conn.) (Fr., Bristol, Conn.) - Knox registered his first career cross country individual title after completing the Blue Jay Invitational 8K men's course with a winning time of 31:59, finishing five and a half minutes ahead of the second-place runner. He averaged a 6:26 mile pace.

Mia Tompkins, University of Saint Joseph (Conn.) (Sr., Meriden, Conn.) - Tompkins claimed her second straight individual victory in as many weeks after she toured the Blue Jay Invitational 5K women's course with a winning time of 20:56, finishing ahead of the second-place runner by nearly four minutes. She averaged a blistering mile pace of 6:44 on Senior Day in the Blue Jays' only home meet of the 2018 season.
