Kathy Andrade (Women’s Basketball, Emerson), Jared Andreozzi
(Men’s Volleyball, Rivier), and Don Poitras (Men’s
Basketball, Rivier) have been named Great Northeast Athletic
Conference Players of the Week.

Women's Basketball – Kathy Andrade, Emerson, Jr.,

In a 1-1 week for the Lions, including a 70-67 win over Emmanuel on
Feb. 9, Andrade shot 59% from the field and had season highs in
scoring this season, scoring 19 points against Emmanuel and 22
points against Suffolk. Andrade’s 22 points were not enough,
as Emerson was narrowly defeated by Suffolk, 67-65, on Feb. 13.
Andrade is currently ranked 5th in the GNAC in field goal
percentage (.461). This is the 1st time this season that Andrade
has been named as a GNAC Player of the Week. Emerson is currently
in a three-way tie for 2nd place in the GNAC, with a conference
record of 7-3 and an overall record of 12-11. The Lions will finish
out the regular season this week with games against St.
Joseph’s (ME) on Feb. 18 and Norwich on Feb. 20.
Men's Volleyball – Jared Andreozzi, Rivier, Jr.,

The #5 ranked Rivier Raiders defeated Albertus Magnus, 6-0, on Feb.
7 before traveling to the Nazareth College Tournament to face off
against four nationally ranked opponents. At Nazareth, the Raiders
lost to #14 ranked Medaille, 3-0, and defeated #9 ranked Stevens,
3-0 on Feb. 12. On Feb. 13, Rivier lost to #3 ranked UC Santa Cruz,
3-0, and defeated #10 ranked Vassar, 3-1. Andreozzi had 66 kills
for a .400 hitting percentage for the week. The junior also
recorded 20 kills against Stevens and 21 kills against Vassar.
Andreozzi also had 11 blocks on the weekend, along with 25 digs,
while only playing two matches in the back row. Andreozzi was named
to the Nazareth College All-Tournament Team for his efforts last
weekend. Andreozzi currently leads the Raiders attack this season,
scoring 5.80 points per set and recording 5.22 kills per set. This
is the 1st time this season that Andreozzi has been named as a GNAC
Player of the Week. Rivier is currently in 1st place in the GNAC,
with a conference record of 6-0 and an overall record of 13-3. The
Raiders will place their undefeated conference record on the line
when the team faces off against Mount Ida on Feb. 18.
Men's Basketball – Don Poitras, Rivier, Jr., Bow,
N.H.

Poitras shot 61% from the field as Rivier went 2-0 on the week,
including a win over top seeded Albertus Magnus on the road. The
Raiders defeated Emmanuel, 75-67, on Feb. 9 and Albertus Magnus,
79-78, on Feb. 13. Poitras is currently ranked 1st in the GNAC in
field goal percentage (.603) and blocked shots (2.7 pg). He is also
ranked 4th in the GNAC in defensive rebounding (5.9 pg), 6th in
scoring (15.2 ppg), 7th in rebounding (7.5 rpg), and 8th in free
throw percentage (.754). This is the 2nd time this season that
Poitras has been named as a GNAC Player of the Week. He was
previously honored on Jan. 4. The Raiders are currently in 6th
place in the GNAC, with a conference record of 5-11 and an overall
record of 8-15. Rivier will finish out the regular season this week
with games against St. Joseph’s (ME) on Feb. 17 and Lasell on
Feb. 20.
