(New Haven, CT) – On Wednesday, April 6 as part of its observation and celebration of National Student-Athlete Day, the Albertus Magnus College Department of Intercollegiate Athletics unveiled its new brand identity and logo. The work was performed by Unlike Designs based out of New York City, and a collaborative effort of student-athletes, coaches, and college administration and staff led to a final decision for the new design.
“We are thrilled to unveil our new Albertus Magnus College Athletics brand identity and logo,” said Director of Athletics Michael Spinner. “After working with Unlike Designs for several months and narrowing down all of the possibilities for a new falcon and new font, the feedback regarding this particular design was overwhelmingly positive. I cannot wait to see our new brand on everything associated with Albertus Magnus Athletics.”
The new brand identity and logo maintains the college’s royal blue and white color scheme for athletics, and features a different look for the Albertus falcon, along with an updated font that will be showcased on all Albertus athletic apparel and showcased on Albertus’s new turf field and throughout the Cosgrove Marcus Messer Athletic Center. Additionally, items ranging from business cards to the athletic website, and all promotional materials will eventually feature the new look. The brand will also have the flexibility to provide each of Albertus’s 14 intercollegiate athletic programs to have a sport-specific logo to showcase on team items.
The logo was unveiled during a 4:15 p.m. ceremony commemorating National Student-Athlete Day in the gymnasium as a massive banner featuring the new look was unfurled. Spectators received free t-shirts and decals with the new design.
“This is another great step for our athletic program, and we are very proud of the new design,” Spinner added. “The ability to provide each program with a sport-specific brand gives the college a new element regarding our marketing efforts for intercollegiate athletics. I want to thank Greg Malek and Unlike Designs for their tremendous work on this project. I am absolutely ecstatic with our new look, and I hope our entire campus community is every bit as excited as well.”
