Three GNAC Men’s Basketball Players Named to D3 Hoops.com All-Region Team

Junior guard Lamonte Thomas (Providence, RI) was named to the D3hoops.com All-Region 1st team. Thomas led the NCAA in D.I, II, & III for scoring, averaging 30.7 points per game. He remarkably scored 921 points on this season alone and has totaled 1,989 points in three years. He earned admission to the GNAC 1,000 point club as a sophomore and looks to top the GNAC in all-time scoring which is currently held at 2,234. Thomas led Johnson & Wales to a GNAC Championship and a victory in the first round of the NCAA tournament against #25 Ramapo. He has accumulated numerous accolades this season including four-time GNAC Player of the week, ECAC Player of the Week, and was named to the GNAC First Team All-Conference for the second consecutive season. Thomas also took home the 2011 GNAC Player of the Year award as well as the GNAC Tournament MVP trophy.
Junior forward Ray Askew (New Haven, CT) was named to the D3hoops.com All-Region 2nd team. Askew averaged 22.0 points per game and added 11.4 rebounds per game to rank 20th in NCAA D.III this season. He was named GNAC Player of the Week and ECAC Player of the Week while also leading the Falcons in nearly every statistical category this season. He led Albertus to the GNAC Semifinals before falling to Johnson & Wales in the highest scoring game in GNAC history (235 total points). Askew was honored to the GNAC First Team All-Conference for the second consecutive season and earned the GNAC Player of the Year award in 2010.
Junior forward Javon Williams (Mattapan, MA) was named to the D3hoops.com All-Region 3rd team. Williams averaged 26.8 points per game, 8.4 rebounds per game, and shot 50% from beyond the arc. Throughout this season, Williams was honored three times on D3Hoops.com Team of the Week, twice as ECAC New England Player of the Week, and three times as the GNAC Player of the Week. Also Williams was recognized as a First Team GNAC All-conference selection for the second consecutive season. On January 25th, 2011, Williams collected his 1,000th career point and has now accrued 1,277 total points, 520 rebounds, and 118 assists. Although he is only a junior, he holds two all-time career records at Lasell for total steals (138) and total free throws made (314); and Williams is also ranked in 5th place amongst Lasell’s all-time scorers in program history.
