Three Saint Joseph's of Maine Student-Athletes Collect Capital One Academic All-District Honors
Monks baseball's Alex Valenti and Taylor Reuillard and Monks softball's Theresa Hendrix all received Capital One Academic All-District honors on Thursday.

WINTHROP, Mass. - Three student-athletes from Saint Joseph's College of Maine received Capital One Academic All-District honors in baseball and softball on Thursday afternoon, as selected by the Collegiate Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Capital One has been the entitlement rights holder to CoSIDA’s Academic All-America teams programs, which recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom, since 2011.
Named to the NCAA Division III District 1 Baseball Team was Monks senior pitcher Alex Valenti and junior outfielder Taylor Reuillard, while senior Theresa Hendrix collected All-District softball honors.
Valenti received the honor after posting a 3.66 GPA as a Business major at Saint Joseph's. A Lawrence, Mass. native, Valenti was a GNAC First Team selection and was voted GNAC Pitcher of the Year by the league's head coaches after leading the conference in strikeouts (60).
Reuillard, who also was an All-GNAC First Team choice, finished second in the GNAC in both hitting (.402) and RBI (29) during the 2015 campaign. The Biddleford, Maine boasts a stellar 3.93 GPA as an Exercise Science major.
Hendrix, a Scarborough, Maine native with a 3.66 GPA as a Physical Education major, was a GNAC First Team selection after a phenomenal season both at the plate and on the mound.
A team captain who logged time in the outfield, in the circle and at shortstop as a senior, Hendrix hit .417 with 40 runs, 13 doubles, six triples, six home runs and 11 stolen bases while starting all 40 of the Monks' games.
She was also one of the team's top pitchers and led the SJC staff in ERA (1.92), wins (7), appearances (15), strikeouts (39) and opponents' batting average (.211). Hendrix led the GNAC in runs, total bases (93), walks (24) and slugging percentage (.775), ranked second in doubles and triples, and third in home runs and RBI.

To be eligible for Academic All-America® consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative G.P.A. of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution and be nominated by his/her sports information director. Since the program's inception in 1952, CoSIDA has bestowed Academic All-America honors on more than 20,000 student-athletes in Divisions I, II, III and NAIA, covering all NCAA championship sports.
