Five JWU Programs are NCAA Tournament Bound This Spring
For Johnson & Wales (RI), the athletic department's men's lacrosse, women's lacrosse, men's golf, softball and women's tennis teams have all earned automatic qualifiers to the NCAA Division III Tournament.

JWU Softball Draws TCNJ in First Round of NCAA Tournament

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – In the NCAA Tournament for the fourth year in a row, the Johnson & Wales University softball team will get to travel to its fourth-different location. The Wildcats will open the championship on Friday against 19th-ranked The College of New Jersey.
Johnson & Wales earned its spot in the NCAA Tournament on Sunday by beating Suffolk, 4-2, in the GNAC Tournament championship game. The Wildcats come into the tournament with a 31-11 record. The host Lions have a 31-8 record and won the NJAC regular season title before falling to Rowan in the conference tournament. Also in the TCNJ regional will be Moravian and Salisbury.
This will be the first meeting between Johnson & Wales and TCNJ.
JWU Men's Lacrosse Draws Merchant Marine Academy in NCAA Tournament

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – One day after winning its first conference championship, the Johnson & Wales University men's lacrosse team found out its first round opponent in the NCAA Tournament. The Wildcats will open the 2018 tournament against the US Merchant Marine Academy.
The game will be played on Tuesday at Tufts University. Game time is TBA.
Johnson & Wales earned the GNAC's automatic qualifying spot by beating Norwich, 9-5, on Saturday in the GNAC championship game. The Wildcats have won five of their last six games coming into the NCAA Championships. The Merchant Marine Academy received its spot by beating Mount St. Mary, 21-15, in the finals of the Skyline Conference tournament.
This will be the first-ever meeting between the Wildcats and Mariners.
JWU Women's Lacrosse to Take on Catholic in NCAA Tournament

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Johnson & Wales University women's lacrosse team is back in the NCAA Tournament for the second year in a row. The Wildcats will go on the road Saturday to take on 15th-ranked Catholic University.
The game will be played at Rowan University, game time is TBA. The winner will take on the host Profs.
Johnson & Wales comes into the tournament with a 17-2 record and earned the GNAC's automatic qualifying bid by beating Lasell, 20-9, on Saturday. Last year the Wildcats lost 17-8 to Babson in the NCAA Tournament. The Cardinals earned their way into the tournament with an 18-10 win over Scranton in the Landmark Conference tournament. Catholic has a 13-6 record.
JWU Women's Tennis Draws Future GNAC Member Colby-Sawyer in NCAAs
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Next year it will be a conference match, but this year it's a first round NCAA Tournament contest. The Johnson & Wales University women's tennis team will open the national championship against Colby-Sawyer, which joins the GNAC as a full member in 2018-19. That move becomes official with the new fiscal year on July 1.
The first round match will be played on Friday at Tufts. Match time is TBA. The winner will face the winner of the MIT-John Jay contest.
This will be the second time the Wildcats and Charges have met on the court this year. Colby-Sawyer won a regular-season contest, 8-1, on September 16. Johnson & Wales defeated Simmons, 5-2, in October to capture the GNAC Championship. The Chargers were the NAC tournament champion.
Last season JWU played in the NCAA Tournament for the first time, losing to 5-0 to Wilkes.
JWU Men's Golf to Open NCAA Tournament Play May 15
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The NCAA Division III Men's Golf Committee has announced the teams and individuals selected to participate in the 2018 NCAA Division III Men's Golf Championships. The championships, which will be held May 15-18 at Grandover Resort, in Greensboro, North Carolina, will be hosted by Guilford College and the Greensboro Sports Commission. Johnson & Wales, which earned the GNAC's automatic qualifier to the NCAA Division III Tournament when it won the GNAC Championship back in October, will represent the conference later next week.
Founded in 1995, the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) is an NCAA Division III association made up of 13 member institutions and over 3,000 student-athletes across the New England region. Each year, the GNAC sponsors and administers 20 championships, while balancing academic integrity, athletic opportunities and community involvement.
