Lasell’s Jamie Marcoux Appointed as GNAC’s NCAA Division III Women's Volleyball Regional Advisory Committee Representative
WINTHROP, Mass. – The Great Northeast Atlantic Conference proudly announces the appointment of Jamie Marcoux as the new NCAA Division III Women’s Volleyball Regional Advisory Committee (RAC) Representative for the conference. Marcoux’s extensive background in collegiate athletics, including her distinguished career as a women’s volleyball coach, establishes her as an exceptional addition to the committee.
Marcoux, who started her new role as the inaugural Assistant Vice President for Athletics at Lasell University on June 24th, brings a wealth of experience back to the GNAC as her career as a volleyball coach has been particularly notable. Her career began as the Head Women’s Volleyball Coach at Johnson & Wales University in 1996. Marcoux led her team to five GNAC Championships and also took home multiple GNAC Coach of the Year honors. Her tenure at Johnson & Wales spanned over two decades, during which she took on multiple leadership roles in the department before becoming the Director of Athletics in 2013. Her coaching career was marked by a commitment to excellence and a deep understanding of the sport, qualities that have continued to define her leadership in athletic administration.
“I am looking forward to representing the GNAC as a member of the NCAA Women’s Volleyball Regional Advisory Committee,” Marcoux stated. “As a member of the committee, we will meet weekly to assist in the evaluation of teams during the season and during the selection of championship participants. As a member of an advisory committee, we do not have the authority to select teams and/or individuals; we strictly act in an advisory capacity. The final authority for selections rests with the national governing sports committee.”
Marcoux’s experience as a coach provides her with a unique perspective that will be invaluable to the RAC.
“I have served on regional athletic committees in the past and truly enjoyed the work and camaraderie that was shared by all committee members,” Marcoux added. “Being a former volleyball player and coach, being a member of the volleyball committee holds a special place for me. I am looking forward to learning how the ranking process has evolved over the past few years as well as the changing landscape of women's volleyball in our region.”
Marcoux’s background highlights both her expertise and dedication to advancing the sport of volleyball. Her appointment to the RAC is a testament to her leadership and her commitment to supporting the growth and development of women’s volleyball at the Division III level.
The GNAC is excited about the contributions Marcoux will bring to the committee and looks forward to the positive impact of her leadership.
