Saint Joseph’s College junior Pat Moran (Winterport, ME)
and sophomore Ian Lee (Hampden, ME), along with Suffolk University
junior Bobby Barrett (Milton, MA) were all selected as All-American
Honorable Mention by D3Baseball.com for 2009.
Moran, the 2009 GNAC Pitcher and Player of the Year and NEIBA
First Team honoree, is coming off an outstanding junior season as a
two-way player for the Monks. As the staff ace, the tall
right-hander tossed 62 2/3 innings with 75 strikeouts and just six
walks with an 8-1 record in 13 appearances. His miniscule .084
walks allowed per nine innings currently ranks fourth in NCAA DIII
Baseball. While serving as an outfielder or designated hitter,
Moran batted .411 with 11 home runs, tops in the GNAC, and scored
37 runs with 44 runs batted in.
Lee led the GNAC, and currently ranks seventh in all of DIII
Baseball, with a .475 (75-158) batting average in 2009. The
sophomore catcher and All-Conference Second Team selection belted
17 doubles with three long balls to go with 40 runs and a team-high
53 RBI.
Moran and Lee, former high school teammates and University of
Maine transfers, will look to build on their 2009 individual
achievements next season. The duo will be relied upon heavily as
the Monks prepare to return to the NCAA Regional.
Suffolk’s Barrett finished the season with a .374 batting
average, seven home runs and 68 RBI. The 68 runs batted in set a
new Suffolk single season record. He also amassed 103 total bases
that included 14 doubles, five triples on 58 totals hits on the
season. Barrett also appeared in 30 games behind the dish for the
Rams, guiding the Suffolk pitching staff to a GNAC-best 4.32 team
ERA. Barrett was named a first-team All-Conference selection by the
GNAC as well as being named to the GNAC Tournament team.
Barrett, who was voted a captain by his teammates prior to the
season helped lead the Rams to a 30-11 overall record. The Rams
captured the 2009 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC)
Championship earning the program's fourth NCAA Regional Tournament
appearance.
