Rob Knox (Norwich), Dustin Shimkus (Norwich), Josh Sullivan (Lasell), and Marc Doyle (Suffolk) have earned Great Northeast Athletic Conference’s Baseball Weekly Honors.

Knox’s career performance helped lead Norwich to a 3-4 week. The senior extended his hit streak to 12 games and belted 6 doubles, 1 triple, and 2 homeruns for the week. Knox went 7-for-7 with 8 RBIs and 3 runs scored as Norwich swept Albertus Magnus for the first time in more than 6 years on April 10, winning 7-4 and 16-7. Knox went 4-for-5 with 4 RBIs and 5 runs scored to help the Cadets split its conference doubleheader at Rivier on April 11, losing 13-8 in the day game and winning 11-7 in the nightcap. The Cadets were also defeated by Daniel Webster, 10-2, on April 6, and Castleton, 19-0 and 8-2, on April 7. Knox leads his team in batting average (.432), slugging percentage (.689), total bases (51), and RBIs (18), and is just two hits shy of 100 career hits. The Cadets are in 6th place in the GNAC with a conference record of 4-6 and an overall record of 5-19. Norwich next faces Lyndon State in doubleheader action on April 13.

Shimkus led all Norwich rookies with a .400 batting average in the team’s seven games last week, including hitting 3 doubles and 1 triple. Norwich went 3-4 for the week, losing to Daniel Webster, 10-2, on April 6, Castleton, 19-0 and 8-2, on April 7, and lost the day game against Rivier, 13-8, on April 11. The Cadets swept Albertus Magnus for the first time in more than 6 years on April 10, winning 7-4 and 16-7, and won their second game against Rivier, 11-7, on April 11. Shimkus is currently ranked second on his team in batting average (.354) and slugging percentage (.524). The Cadets are in 6th place in the GNAC with a conference record of 4-6 and an overall record of 5-19 Norwich next plays a doubleheader against Lyndon State on April 13.

Sullivan pitched a two-hitter in Lasell’s first ever victory
over St. Joseph’s (ME) on April 10. Sullivan pitched a perfect game
through 5 2/3 innings, striking out 6 to lead the Lasers to a 6-2
victory. Sullivan
held the Monks to a .083 batting average in the complete game
victory on the mound.
Sullivan is ranked 1st among GNAC pitchers with a 2.25 ERA, and is
tied for 3rd in earned runs allowed (5). Sullivan’s victory was the
only win for the Lasers last week as the team fell to Newbury, 5-1,
on April 6, Gordon, 16-4, on April 7, UMass-Boston, 9-3, on April
8, St. Joseph’s (ME), 13-1, in the nightcap on April 10, and
Suffolk, 13-4 and 12-8, on April 11. The Lasers are in 7th place in
the GNAC with a conference record of 3-7 and an overall record of
3-17. Lasell next
plays at Becker on April 15.

Doyle fanned a career high 12 hitters in a complete game shutout effort against Emerson on April 10. Doyle allowed 3 hits through 7 to give the Rams a 6-0 victory over the Lions. Doyle is ranked first on the Rams pitching staff in ERA (1.12), and is ranked 3rd on his team with a .397 batting average. Suffolk went 4-6 on the week, losing to MIT, 5-4, in 10 innings on April 5, and Roger Williams, 7-3, on April 7. The Rams picked up wins by sweeping Emerson, 9-2 and 6-0 on April 10, and Lasell, 13-4 and 12-8, on April 11. The Rams are in 1st place in the GNAC with a conference record of 9-1 and an overall record of 13-10. Suffolk next plays UMass-Boston on April 13.
