BSB: Mitchell To Face No. 14 Nationally-Ranked Tufts In Regionals
INDIANAPOLIS – 2026 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Baseball Champion Mitchell will represent the GNAC in the 2026 NCAA Division III Baseball Championship as it heads to #14 nationally-ranked Tufts for the opening day of regional action. The game is scheduled for Friday, May 15 at 11:00 am.
The Mariners were one of 64 teams selected into this year’s championship field, which was announced on Monday (May 11) afternoon during the NCAA.com Selection Show. The tournament begins May 15 with the regional round and concludes June 4 at Classic Auto Group Park in Eastlake, Ohio. In 2026, the tournament will feature 64 teams competing across 16 regional brackets, each consisting of four teams in a double-elimination format.
Mitchell compiled a 29-12 overall mark, including a 16-4 GNAC record that gave him the No. 1 seed in the GNAC Championship Tournament. In Pod Play, the Mariners went undefeated in postseason play, defeating No. 8 Elms twice and No. 4 Dean in Pod Play before sweeping No. 3 Saint Joseph's (Maine) in the Championship Series to claim the GNAC crown.
There are 15 additional regional sites besides Salisbury hosting action on Friday-Sunday, May 15-17. Four teams are competing in each of the sites and will use a double-elimination format.
The sixteen regional winners will advance to the eight Super Regional sites on Friday-Saturday, May 22-23 to play best-of-three series. The eight Super Regional winners will then qualify for the pool play double-elimination championship at Classic Auto Group Park in Eastlake, Ohio from Friday, May 30 to Thursday, June 5.
