GNAC Field Hockey Report: Week 5

JWU grad student Jillian Miele had three key goals last week as the Widcats defeated GNAC rival Saint Joseph's of Maine and got a big win at Roger Williams.

( FOR THE WEEK OF SEPT. 26 - OCT. 2 )

	PLAYER OF THE WEEK Jillian Miele, Johnson & Wales (RI) (Gr., F - Wilmington, Mass.) - Miele scored three goals, including the game-winner on the road at Saint Joseph's of Maine on Saturday, as the Wildcats remained perfect on the season at 9-0 (4-0 GNAC). She also had one goal in a 2-1 road over (6-3) Roger Williams last Tuesday.
	GOALKEEPER / ROOKIE OF THE WEEK Abby Boudreau, Lasell (Freshman, GK) - Boudreau stopped 10 of 11 shots in a 2-1 week for a .909 save percentage, allowing just one goal in 30 minutes of action at Framingham State.

HONOR ROLL

Eden Forget, Anna Maria (Jr., M - Worcester, Mass.) - Eden led the AMCATS with a goal and an assist in a 3-0 win over Dean College in their lone game of the week. The AMCATS won their second conference game in a row to improve to 2-2 in the GNAC and won their third game overall.

Lily Stark, Lasell (Junior, F) - In a 2-1 week, Stark had six goals and two assists for 14 points, with 14 of her 19 shots going on goal. She had a goal and a helper in a 3-0 win over Gordon, had a defensive save in 3-0 setback at Framingham State, then totaled five goals and an assist in a 7-0 shutout over USJ.

Kayla Miles, Rivier (Jr., F - Londonderry, NH) - Miles helped the Raiders to a 2-0 week with her offensive performances. Most noteworthy was her lone goal in the upset against GNAC opponent Colby-Sawyer. Miles followed that up with another two goals against Fitchburg St. Last week provided Miles with two game-winners.

Aimee Adams, Saint Joseph's (Me.) (Senior, M - Gardiner, Maine) - Adams tallied seven goals and an assist in a 1-1 week for the Monks and broke the SJC single-game records for goals and points with six goals and 13 total points in a win over Regis on Wednesday.

Sydney Gonyea, Simmons (Sophomore, F - Lebanon, N.H.) - Gonyea guided Simmons to a 2-0 week, which included scoring the eventual game-winning goal in a road victory over Albertus Magnus College to close out the week. Agains the Falcons, she tied her career single-game high registering seven points, tallying three goals, for the second time this season, and an assist. Earlier in the week, Gonyea recorded two goals for four points in an 8-0 shutout over Elms College. Currently the GNAC leader in goals (15) and points (37), she finished the week with five goals and one assist for 11 points.
