GNAC Men's Basketball Report: Week 10
Albertus Magnus grad student Terry Dawkins averaged 20.7 points and 10.7 rebounds in a 3-0 week for the Falcons en route to GNAC Player of the Week honors.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK Terry Dawkins, Albertus Magnus (Gr., F - Bronx, N.Y.) - Dawkins led the Falcons in a 3-0 GNAC week for Albertus, averaging 20.7 points, 10.7 rebounds, and 3.0 assists per game. The graduate forward shot an impressive 57.8% (26-45) from the floor, kicking off the week with 21 points and seven rebounds against JWU on the road. He wrapped the week by posting back-to-back double-doubles, beginning with 15 points and 10 rebounds in a 73-70 non-conference win over Conn. College. In a 76-64 win over Dean, Dawkins recorded a season-high in both points (26) and rebounds (15) while shooting 66.7% (10-15) from the field. |

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK Quinton Partee Jr., Lasell (Fr., F - Roswell, Ga.) - Partee Jr. captured his third consecutive and fourth overall GNAC Rookie of the Week honor on Monday after averaging 18.3 points, 5.7 rebounds and 2.3 steals while shooting 54.5% (18-33 FG, 19-27 FT) in a 2-1 week of GNAC action. After 18 points, six boards and four steals in a 92-78 win over Regis, the freshman had 15 points and six rebounds in a setback against GNAC-undefeated Emmanuel. He closed out the week with a new career-high 22 points in a 72-65 win at Colby-Sawyer. |
GNAC HONOR ROLL
Sean Zabari, Anna Maria (So., G - Miami, Fla.) - The Miami product averaged 11.3 points, 3.7 rebounds and 2.0 steals in a 2-1 GNAC week for the AMCATS, highlighted by an 18-point performance in a 76-69 victory against Norwich last Thursday. He also had 10 points, five boards and three steals in a 75-74 road win over Rivier.
Omar Boone, Colby-Sawyer (Sr, F - Colorado City, Texas) - Boone continues to shine for Colby-Sawyer, last week averaging 19.7 points and 8.7 rebounds while shooting 44.0% (22-50 FG, 6-18 3PT, 9-14 FT) in three GNAC games, including a pair of double-doubles. He had 17 points and 13 boards in a 68-55 victory over Rivier before registering 20 points and 11 caroms in a setback at Dean. He finished the week with 22 points and eight boards versus Lasell on Saturday afternoon in a 71-65 overtime loss.
Donte Pope, Emmanuel (Mass.) (Jr, G - Middletown, Conn.) - Pope averaged 20.5 points, 8.0 rebounds and 2.5 assists while shooting an impressive 58.1% (18-31 FG, 1-8 3PT, 4-7 FT) from the floor in a 2-0 week of GNAC action for the Saints. The junior guard opened the week with a 28-point road outing versus Saint Joseph's of Maine, shooting 61.9% (13-21) overall in the win. He then came one rebound shy of a double-double at home against Lasell with 13 points and nine boards in a 78-67 victory to keep the Saints unbeaten in league play at 9-0.
EJ Day, Lasell (Senior, G - Norwalk, Conn.) - The GNAC's leading scorer (26.3 PPG) averaged 27.7 points, 8.0 rebounds, 4.7 assists and 2.0 steals in a 2-1 week for the Lasers. He went off for 31 points (10-19 FG, 5-6 3PT, 6-7 FT), six boards and seven assists in a 92-78 win over Regis, before contributing 25 points and eight caroms in a 78-67 setback at Emmanuel. He capped the week wit ha 27-point, 10-rebound double-double as Lasell downed Colby-Sawyer, 72-65, on the road.
Alec Kinder, St. Joseph (Conn.) (Gr., F - West Haven, Conn.) - Kinder helped power the top-ranked Blue Jays to another undefeated week, averaging a double-double over three GNAC games where USJ won by an average of 37.0 points over its conference counterparts. In just 19 minutes per game, Kinder averaged 10.7 points and 10.7 rebounds while shooting 66.7% (14-21) from the field. Kinder opened the week with 16 points and 11 rebounds in an 81-54 win on the road over Dean on Tuesday. He followed that up with 10 points and nine boards in an 86-49 triumph at home over Regis on Thursday before netting six points with a career-high 12 rebounds in a 97-50 triumph at home over Norwich on Saturday.
Ashtyn Abbott, Saint Joseph's (Maine) (Senior, F - Farmingdale, Maine) - Abbott averaged 16.0 points, 9.0 rebounds, and 4.0 assists per game while shooting 51.9% (14-27) from the floor in a 1-1 week to lead the Monks. The senior forward netted 18 points with five rebounds and three dimes in a narrow loss to GNAC undefeated Emmanuel on Tuesday and capped the week with 14 points, 13 boards, and five assists in an 86-70 win over JWU on Saturday.
