MEN'S GOLF: Albertus Magnus Leads After Day One of GNAC Championship
Albertus Magnus freshman Charles Kristofak leads the way with a first round of 77 (+7), while his Falcons own a mere two-stroke lead (330-328) over Saint Joseph's of Maine.

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The Albertus Magnus College men's golf team (328) owns a two-stroke lead over Saint Joseph's College of Maine (330) after the first round of the 2021-22 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Men's Golf Championship, hosted by Albertus Magnus on Monday afternoon at the New Haven Country Club.
Coming in third place after the first 18 holes with a score of 360 was Dean College. Elms College and Emmanuel (Mass.) College rounded out the competitors in fourth and fifth place with scores of 381 and 387, respectively.
COURSE NOTES
- Front Nine: Par 34 - 3,088 yards
- Back Nine: Par 36 - 3,472 yards
- Total: Par 70 - 6,560 yards
PLAYER HIGHLIGHTS
Albertus Magnus freshman Charles Kristofak (West Hartford, Conn.) led the field with a day-one round of 77 (+7) to help the Falcons take the top spot on the leaderboard. Currently in second place was Elms' Mike Keefe with a 78 (+8), while Albertus' Ryan Sember (Branford, Conn.) right now is third with a 79 (+9).
Saint Joseph's (ME) took the next four spots on the leaderboard with Drew Mathieu (81) in fourth, Jacob Laplume (82) in fifth, Cade Buckley (83) in sixth, and Sean McDonough (84) in seventh. Albertus' David Aquavia (Oakville, Conn.) finished eighth with a score of 85 (+15), Emmanuel's Michael Menico took ninth with a score of 86 (+16), and Dean's Ethan Lessard and Albertus' Devin Hines (West Haven, Conn.) both tallied an 87 (+17) to complete the top 10 in a tie.
SCORECARDS
The lowest five scores will automatically be named to the GNAC All-Conference Team following round-two play on Tuesday, while the individual medalist will be named the Player of the Year and the rookie with the lowest total will be named Rookie of the Year.

UP NEXT
Day Two of the 2021-22 GNAC Men's Golf Championship is set for Tuesday, October 12, with the first group of golfers slated to go off at 10 a.m. The champion will receive's the league automatic qualifier to the 2022 NCAA Dibvision III Tournament in the spring.
