Player of the Week
Max Smith (Gillette, N.J.), Junior, Midfielder, Emerson College
Smith proved to be the lynchpin in Emerson's 2-0 week, as the Lions secured wins over the Regis Pride and Daniel Webster Eagles. On the week, Smith posted seven goals, two in a double overtime thriller over Regis. Against Daniel Webster he was integral, putting in five goals to lead EC in a 10-6 win. In addition he was .500 in faceoffs on the week while picking up eight ground balls along the way.
Goalie of the Week
Mark Paradiso (Westford, Mass.) Junior, Goalie, Norwich University
In a 2-0 week in net for the Cadets, Paradiso stopped 17 of the 25 shots he faced to post a .680 save percentage. He allowed eight goals on the week in 105 minutes of action to record a 4.57 goals-against average. Paradiso allowed just two goals against Anna Maria, stopping 77.8 percent of the nine shots on goal in the first three quarters of action.
Rookie of the Week
Benjamin Byrd (Richardson, Texas), Freshman, Attack, Emerson College
Byrd, the rookie attack from Richardson, Texas stepped up huge for the Lions on the week, most especially for his efforts against Regis where he collected not only a hat trick, but also scored the game-winning goal in double overtime to give the Lions their first win on the season. In addition, he added four assists on the week, two against Regis and two against Daniel Webster College in a 10-6 win over the Eagles.
