GNAC Men's Lacrosse Report: Week 1
Norwich's Parker Campbell, SJC's Edward Hellier, and USJ's Noah Mocksfield received GNAC weekly honors in the first report of the 2020 season.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK Parker Campbell, Norwich (So., A - Rockaway, N.J.) Campbell helped steer the Cadets' offense during a 1-1 week to open the 2020 campaign. The second-year player recorded six goals and six assists on 46.2 percent shooting. In the season opener, Campbell scored a hat trick in a narrow one-point loss to New England College who made an appearance in the second round of the NCAA tournament in 2019. On Saturday, he had a hand in over 40 percent of the Cadets' scoring plays notching three goals and four assists in a 17-12 win over Curry. |

GOALKEEPER OF THE WEEK Edward Hellier, Saint Joseph's (Maine) (SR, G - South Portland, Maine) Hellier was outstanding in the Monks' first-ever victory over Nichols on February 22, as the senior transfer turned away 23 shots and picked up a team-high six ground balls in the 10-6 triumph. |

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK Noah Mocksfield, St. Joseph (Conn.) (Fr., M - Colchester, Conn.) The freshman had 10 goals and two assists for 12 points in a 1-1 opening stretch for the upstart USJ program. He had nine goals and the two helpers in a 14-6 victory for the Blue Jays' first-ever varsity win, while he also had one goal in a 9-4 setback versus Maine Maritime. |
WEEKLY HONOR ROLL
Nick Penta, Regis (Mass.) (Jr., GK - Andover, Mass.) - Making his first start in net for the Pride since the 2018 season, Penta made 15 saves while allowing just seven goals as he kept Regis close to Maine Maritime in the team's season opener. After collecting four saves in the first half, he was continually under pressure in the third quarter, making seven saves to prevent the Mariners from pulling away from the Pride. Penta also made four saves in the fourth quarter to help the Pride rally to within one goal. Posting a save percentage of .682, Penta also caused three turnovers and collected four ground balls.
Brian Wagner, Regis (Mass.) (Sr., M - Melrose, Mass.) - Wagner led Regis as it nearly rallied all the way back from a four-goal deficit Saturday at Maine Maritime. He was involved in all but one of the Pride's goals against the Mariners with two goals and three assists. After assisting on Regis' first goal of the match in the second quarter, he picked up a goal and an assist in the span of 1:39 in the third quarter to cut the Pride deficit in half. In the fourth quarter, he earned his third assist early in the period, and then he scored with 19 seconds left to bring his team within one. Wagner also collected three ground balls and caused one turnover.
Shane Puleo, Saint Joseph's (Me.) (JR, A - Nashua, N.H.) - Puleo tallied five goals and five assists with three ground balls in a pair of SJC victories last week. The junior attack scored a goal with an assist in a 10-6 win over Nichols College on February 22nd and registered four goals and four assists in an 18-4 triumph over Husson University three days later.
