GNAC Men's Lacrosse Report: Week 5
Dean's Diego Alvarez-Segee out of Saugus, Mass. posted a team-best 13 points on eight goals and five assists in a 2-0 week for the Bulldogs.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK Diego Alvarez-Segee, Dean (So, F - Saugus, Mass.) - Alvarez-Segee posted a team best 13 points on eight goals and five assists in a 2-0 week for the Bulldogs. He began the week with a game-high seven points on four goals and three assists in an impressive 14-4 win over Johnson & Wales. The sophomore attacker followed with a game best six points on four goals and two assists in the team's 14-8 triumph over Anna Maria.

GOALKEEPER OF THE WEEK Alexander Govoni, Dean (Sr, GK - Lakeville, Mass.) - Govoni helped the Bulldogs to a 2-0 week with 29 saves in net. He posted a 70.7 save percentage and allowed only 6.0 goals per game. Govoni began the week with 16 saves and just four goals allowed in a 14-4 victory over Johnson & Wales. The senior then registered 13 saves in a great 14-8 win over Anna Maria.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK Ryan Stone, Lasell (Freshman, Attack - Granby, Conn.) - As part of a 2-0 week, Stone registered six goals and three assists for nine points. He scored three goals each against Albertus Magnus and Emmanuel.

GNAC WEEKLY HONOR ROLL
Dane Walsh, Albertus Magnus (Sr., GK - Bethany, Conn.) - Walsh led the way for the Falcons over two games last week, racking up 39 saves, a 62.9 save percentage, and a 1-1 record. The senior shined brightest in AMC's hard-fought 6-3 win over Regis (Mass.) on Saturday, making 18 saves and allowing just three goals for a whopping 85.7 save percentage. The victory gave Walsh five wins this season, which marks a new career-high for the senior.
Thomas Quigley, Emmanuel (Mass.) (So, A - Marblehead, Mass.) - Quigley led Emmanuel with six points on the week on a goal and five assists. The sophomore enjoyed a strong showing in GNAC action vs. Lasell, registering five points on the day including a career-best four helpers in the Saints 13-8 loss. Over two games, Quigley recorded five groundballs and caused two turnovers for EC.
Mike Catuosco, Johnson & Wales (RI) (Jr., D - Commack, N.Y.) - Catuosco finished the week with 29 ground balls, eight caused turnovers, and won 30 of his 41 faceoff attempts. Finishing with a 71.3% faceoff win rate, Cautosco grabbed 12 ground balls against Dean and 17 against St. Joseph's (Me.) against the Monks, he had seven caused turnovers and went 17/20 in the faceoff circle.
James Anderson, Lasell (Senior, Attack - Medway, Mass.) - Anderson had six goals and two assists with four ground balls in a 2-0 week.
Payden Masaracchia, Norwich (Sr., A - Enola, Pa.) - Masaracchia compiled nine points over this past weekend, scoring seven goals with two assists on the week. Masaracchia scored four goals and two assists in a nonconference game for six points while scoring three goals in Saturday's contest against St. Joseph (Conn.) including the final two goals in the win for Norwich.
Tommy Hopkins, Norwich (So., G - Chelmsford, Mass.) - Hopkins made 18 saves in his lone start of the week as Norwich earned a 13-10 victory over St. Joseph (Conn.). Hopkins had a 64.3 save percentage in the contest.
Michael Ference, Rivier (So., A - Salem, NH) - Ference continues to be the centerpiece for the Raiders offense. This past week he helped the Raiders a 2-0 record with a team high 5 goals and 1 assist. He also added 6 ground balls and four caused turnovers.
Ryan Paltauf, St. Joseph (Conn.) (So., A - Southbury, Conn.) - Paltauf led the Blue Jays on the week with seven points coming on a pair of goals and five assists. Paltauf opened the week with a goal and an assist in USJ's final non-conference contest of the season at Western Connecticut on Tuesday. He then deposited another goal and assisted on four more to close the week with a five-point outburst at home versus GNAC foe Norwich on Saturday. Another strong week for Paltauf keeps him in the tops of the stat leaders in the conference for the 2022 season as the Southbury product currently leads the league in assists with 35 and is tied for the lead in points with 48.
