Swimmer Of The Week
Kristian Adlianitski, Norwich (Jr.)
Junior Kristian Adlianitski defended his individual title at Norwich's season-opening Keene State Sprint Pentathlon on Saturday, coming in first overall in a unique meet format where five sprint-distance events combined into a cumulative total to determine overall rankings. He posted a 2:37.89 total time across five events, including clocking in at third in the 50-yard butterfly (24.89), fourth in the 50-yard backstroke (26.86), first in the 50-yard breaststroke (27.54), first in the 50-yard freestyle (22.04), and first in the 100-yard IM (56.56). He ultimately shaved nearly three full seconds off his winning total from last year to defend his title.
Diver Of The Week
Josh Dion, Regis (So.)
On the diving board, sophomore Josh Dion represented the Pride, earning 120.95 points for the top spot in the 1-meter diving competition in the Pride's season opening meet against USJ.
Rookie Of The Week
Gabe Wettig, Norwich (So.)
First-year Gabe Wettig had a great showing in his collegiate debut in the pool, finishing 10th overall at the season-opening Keene State Sprint Pentathlon, a unique meet format where five sprint-distance events combined to determine overall rankings. He tallied a 2:54.15 time, with finishes including 11th in the 50-yard butterfly (26.50), 10th in the 50-yard backstroke (29.19), 14th in the 50-yard breaststroke (32.00), ninth in the 50-yard freestyle (24.33), and 10th in the 100-yard IM (1:02.13). Wettig also swam the first in the 200-yard medley relay team that came in fourth overall and second among Norwich teams, while taking the final leg of Norwich's 200-yard freestyle relay squad that came in third overall.
WEEKLY HONOR ROLL
Gavin Olsen, Regis - Earned the Pride's first top spot of the day during their season opener against USJ, dominating the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 11:47.81, more than a minute ahead of the runner-up and good for 12th all-time in Regis history. He later added another victory in the 500-yard freestyle, finishing in 5:38.07. He closed out his collegiate debut with a first place finish as part of the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:42.60.
Aiden Hebb, University of Saint Joseph (Conn.) - Won four events for USJ during the Blue Jay's victory at Regis. Hebb was a member of the winning 200 yard medley team, swimming the anchor leg. Then, the sophomore won the 200 yard free in a time of 1:53.62, the 100 breaststroke in 1:02.45, and the 100 IM in 57.50 seconds.
