2013 All-GNAC Men’s Tennis Teams Announced
BOSTON, Mass. – The Great Northeast Athletic Conference has announced the 2013 All-GNAC Men’s Tennis Teams as well as major awards after this weekend’s championship. Suffolk University defeated Emerson College, 5-3, to claim the GNAC North title before falling to Ramapo College, 5-4 in the GNAC Championship.

Suffolk University defeated Emerson College, 5-3, to claim the GNAC North title before falling to Ramapo College, 5-4 in the GNAC Championship.
Emerson College junior Steve Frend (Nynashamn, Sweeden) was named the 2013 GNAC Player of the Year. The junior led the Emerson Lions to a perfect 5-0 regular season record in the GNAC, gaining rights to the top seed in the GNAC playoffs. As the 1st singles player for the Lions, Frend posted a 7-1 record. Frend also worked as a partner in the top doubles team for Emerson, posting a 5-1 record. On the season, Frend helped the Lions to an impressive overall record of 10-2.
Anna Maria coach Adam Williamson was announced as the Coach of the Year for the 2013 season. In his first season as the head coach, Williamson led the team to a 4th place finish in the GNAC with a record of 1-4 in conference play. Williamson guided freshman Dillion George to becoming Rookie of the Year in the 2013 season, and the coach will look to build off of the success of the young team for the 2014 season.
Anna Maria Freshman Dillon George (Holden,Mass.) was named the 2013 GNAC Rookie of the Year for the AMCats. The rookie put together a solid season, and was a major contributor for Anna Maria who finished 1-4 in GNAC play and 1-9 on the season overall. George was the top singles play for the AMCats, and put together an impressive 7-1 record. Additionally, the Holden, Mass. native worked as a partner for the top doubles group for Anna Maria, putting together a 3-5 record. The freshman led the AMCats in wins and ended the season on a three-game win streak as the top singles player.
