GNAC Men's Tennis Report: Week 3
The Chargers' tandem earned a sweep of conference weekly awards for the first time this season.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK Alex Wright, Colby-Sawyer (Sr., - St. Austell, Cornwall, England) Wright led the Chargers to a 3-1 week, including the team's first win as a member of the GNAC against Suffolk. He began the week with a 6-3, 6-1 No. 1 singles win and an 8-3 No. 2 doubles win with Julius Lowman to lead the team to a 7-2 win over Division II Saint Michael's. Wright then posted a 6-1, 6-4 No. 1 singles win and an 8-6 doubles win with Lowman in a closely contested 5-4 win over Endicott. Wright won his third match at the top flight 6-0, 6-0 in a 9-0 GNAC win at Suffolk. Wright and Lowman also posted an 8-4 doubles win. Wright's lone losses of the week came at Wheaton. He fought hard at the top singles flight winning the first set 7-5, but then dropped the next two 6-3, 11-9. |

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK Julius Lowman, Colby-Sawyer (Fr. - Bavaria, Germany) Lowman helped the Chargers to a 3-1 week, including the team's first win as a member of the GNAC against Suffolk. Lowman teamed with Alex Wright to post an 8-3 No. 2 doubles win in a 7-2 win over Division II Saint Michael's. He dropped his No. 5 singles match, but battled through three sets. Lowman and Wright then had an 8-6 doubles win and Lowman came away with a 7-5, 6-2 singles win in a closely contested 5-4 win over Endicott. Lowman won his No. 5 match by a 6-1, 6-2 score in a 9-0 GNAC win at Suffolk. Lowman and Wright also posted an 8-4 doubles win. Lowman then recorded the Chargers? lone point in a tough 8-1 loss at Wheaton. He won his singles match 6-4, 6-4. |
