MTENNIS: Conference Office Announces 2022 All-GNAC Teams

WINTHROP, Mass. – The Great Northeast Athletic Conference is pleased to unveil its 2022 Men's Tennis All-Conference squads, spotlighted by Regis College grad student Andrew Bienvenu, who has been voted the GNAC Player of the Year by the league's head coaches.

Bienvenu had an amazing season for the Pride, playing in the top singles position and top two positions in doubles. He has only lost one match all year and sported a 15-0 singles record and 14-1 doubles record. He also went undefeated in GNAC conference play during the regular season. He also earned All-GNAC Doubles Second Team honors with junior teammate Lenny Tam.

Joining Bienvenu on the All-GNAC First Team were five other student-athletes: Albertus Magnus College senior Zak Levine; Colby-Sawyer College senior Julius Lowman; CSC freshman Jan Ullmann; Eastern Nazarene College freshman Diego Torres and Regis senior Sebastian Torres.

A native of Schriesheim, Baden-Wuerrtemberg, Germany, Ullman also took home the GNAC Rookie of the Year award after he went 7-5 overall at No. 2 singles for the Chargers and was 3-1 in doubles action against GNAC foes.

Along with Torres, the two-time and back-to-back GNAC champion Eastern Nazarene also placed two on the All-GNAC Second Team in Avelino Parrondo and Carlos Sanchez. The associate member Lions get prepared to take on Stevens at Middlebury this Friday in the NCAA Division III Tournament after defeating Colby-Sawyer, 5-1, in last weekend's GNAC Championship match. 

ENC also saw the tandem of Diego Rodriguez and Carlos Sanchez receive All-GNAC Doubles First Team accolades.

Albertus Magnus College longtime head coach Bob Migliorini was voted the GNAC Coach of the Year by his peers, as the Falcons' 8-5 overall record match his career-best for wins in a single season. Historically, the avid amateur player holds USTA records for the longest single game not completed (1:45) and the longest single point not completed (0:50), both of which occurred during an extraordinary June 1995 USTA league singles match in Trumbull, Conn.

Looking ahead, the 2023 GNAC Men's Tennis field will also feature the inaugural season of competition for the University of Saint Joseph (CT).
