USJ first-year Marko Karpyuk swept GNAC Player and Rookie of the Week honors after singles and doubles wins against UMass Boston.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK Marko Karpyuk, USJ (Fr. - Ivano-Frankivsk, Ukraine) - Karpyuk helped lead the Blue Jays to a 7-2 victory over non-conference opponent UMass Boston at home Tuesday afternoon in the Blue Jays' lone match of the week after weather postponed USJ's scheduled matches later in the week. The rookie from Ukraine was dominant at the No. 2 position for the Blue Jays against the Beacons. He opened the match with an 8-1 victory at No. 2 doubles with teammate Patrick Gavrylchuk before turning in a 6-1, 6-1 straight-set triumph over UMB's Maxwell Dill at No. 2 singles. It marked Karpyuk's fourth straight singles win of the season. |
