Lions Named to NCAA Softball New England Regional
Emerson College has been named the fifth seed in the New England Region for the NCAA Division III Championship Softball Tournament. The Lions (32-9) will take on the host school, fourth seeded Endicott College (37-7) at 12 noon on Thursday, May 7 in Beverly, Mass. The game will be the second of four Thursday first round games in the double-elimination tournament.

Emerson qualified for the Tournament by winning the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Championship Tournament. Endicott was the Commonwealth Coast Conference Tournament champion.
Tufts University (38-1) from the New England Small College Athletic Conference was selected as the top seed and will face eighth seeded Husson College (26-14) the winner of the North Atlantic Conference. That game will kick off the Regional at 10a.m.
The 2:00pm game will feature the third seed, the U.S. Coast Guard Academy (36-5-1), the NEWMAC regular season champion against Massachusetts State College Athletic Conference Champion Bridgewater State (28-9). Bridgewater is the sixth seed.
In Thursday’s final game, second seed Rhode Island College (40-5) of the Little East Conference has a 4:00pm start against seventh seeded Springfield College (20-22) the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference tournament Champion.
Second round play will be held on Friday, May 8.
