GNAC Softball Report: Week 4
Albertus Magnus swept the Week 4 awards, as Ivy Geloso (pictured), Erin Dighello and Skyler Arent took home Player, Pitcher and Rookie of the Week honors, respectively.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK Ivy Geloso, Albertus Magnus (Sr., UTL - Beacon Falls, Conn.) - Geloso was outstanding as the Falcons went 8-0 last week, going 13-for-23 (.565) at the plate with 10 RBI, nine runs scored, one home run, one triple, five doubles and two stolen bases. The senior utility player recorded a slash line of .565/.583/1.000 over her seven contests for a 1.583 OPS, with the highlight of the Geloso's week coming against MCLA on Saturday, when she went 3-for-3 from the leadoff spot to tally four RBI, three runs, and a three-RBI homer in Game 2. |

PITCHER OF THE WEEK Erin Dighello, Albertus Magnus (Sr., P - Wallingford, Conn.) - Dighello was terrific in the pitching circle this week for Albertus, as she went a perfect 5-0 with a 0.91 ERA and 23 strikeouts in 23.0 innings. In her five starts, she tallied two complete-game efforts with one complete-game shutout. Dighello's shutout came against Mt. St. Vincent on Friday, when she also struck out a season-high eight batters while allowing just four hits. |

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK Skylar Arent, Albertus Magnus (Fr., P - New Fairfield, Conn.) - Arent did well in both the circle and at the plate, picking up three wins as a pitcher and logging a .375 average at the plate. In the circle, the freshman logged a 3-0 record over 20.0 innings with a 1.05 ERA and 12 strikeouts, while giving up just three runs. At the plate, Arent went 3-for-8 with two RBI, two doubles and a 1.025 OPS. |
GNAC WEEKLY HONOR ROLL
Eden Forget, Anna Maria (So., SS/P - Worcester, Mass.) - Forget was dominant against Fisher this past week, striking out nine in just five innings of work. For the week, the second year pitcher posted a 2.33 ERA while hitting .300 at the plate with two RBI.
Sabrina Liston, Anna Maria (Sr., RHP/INF - Rehoboth, Mass.) - Liston hit .714 for the week with an .818 on-base percentage over four games for the AMCATS, driving in three runs and scoring two more. She also struck out nine Falcons against Fisher College on Wednesday, allowing no earned runs over five innings.
Olivia Conti, Emmanuel (Mass.) (So, SS - Cranston, R.I.) - Batted .700 (7-for-10) over three games, collecting a .727 OBP along with a 1.100 slugging percentage for the Saints. The sophomore shortstop opened the week with a 2-for-3 outing vs. Emerson, scoring and driving in a run in a tight 4-3 contest. Conti posted a gaudy 4-for-4 outing with four RBI, a home run and double in Emmanuel's 6-5 extra-inning victory over Wentworth and finished the week with five RBI, two runs, one walk and one stolen base.
Meaghan Gurska, Johnson & Wales (RI) (Jr., C - Revere, Mass.) - In a 3-0 week, Gurska reached base eight times in nine plate appearances, going for 5-for-6 with four runs, three homers and eight RBI. She had a a career day against Bridgewater State on Saturday, connecting for all three home runs and the eight driven in. She finished the week with a .833 average and 3.222 OPS.
Matara Tamzarian, Lasell (Junior, Outfield - Manchester, N.H.) - The junior was 7-for-14 with two extra-base hits and three RBI in a 3-1 week.
Meghan Theall, Lasell (Freshman, Pitcher/Outfield/First Base - Billerica, Mass.) - Thea;; allowed one earned (three runs) on 10 hits with two strikeouts across 14.0 innings pitched.
Kate McGrath, Regis (Mass.) (Fy., P - Boston, Mass.) - McGrath allowed just seven hits and one unearned run during the second game of Regis's doubleheader against Wentworth Sunday. McGrath needed just 78 pitches in the complete game, throwing 56 strikes as she picked up five strikeouts along the way. After a leadoff double in the third inning as well as a passed ball to allow the runner to advance to third, she induced three groundouts to prevent the Wentworth runner from scoring. McGrath lowered her season ERA to 1.87 during the game.
Nicole Capra, Rivier (Sr., IF - Windham, N.H.) - Capra finished the week with 17 at bats, racking up nine hits for a .529 batting average. She added two doubles and a triple to her line, giving her a .765 slugging percentage.
Frankie Ferrante, St. Joseph (Conn.) (Sr., INF - Southington, Conn.) - The senior had a 2.028 OPS in a sweep over Bay Path, with four of her six hits going four doubles. She aldo scored six runs and drove in six.
Jenna Zup, St. Joseph (Conn.) (Fr., INF - Berlin, Conn.) - Zup was 5-for-6 with six runs and four RBI in Saturday's 36-run doubleheader sweep against Bay Path on the road.
Shannon McMahon, Simmons (Senior, C - El Cajon, Calif.) - McMahon posted a .400 batting average (8-20) with two doubles, and six RBI, while registering a .955 OBP (.455 OBP, .500 SLG%) from the middle of the order to guide the Sharks to a 4-2 week. She began the week with a walk-off double in the bottom of the seven to lead Simmons to a 5-4 victory over Eastern Nazarene on March 23. She finished the night going 5-for-8 with a double and two RBI and a run scored against he Lions.
Jordyn Rubin, Simmons (Sophomore, OF - Lewiston, Maine) - Rubin hit .471 batting average (8-17) with a double, two homeruns and six RBI, while posting a staggering 1.356 OPS (.474 OBP, .882 SLG%) to lead the Sharks to a 4-2 week. Early in the week against Eastern Nazarene, Rubin slugged her second career homerun, then late in the week in a 3-1 victory over Framingham State added an insurance run in the late innings launching her third homerun of the season and second of the week. She currently is riding a seven-game hitting streak.
