GNAC Softball Report: Week 5
Simmons shortstop Allie Mulhern had a pair of homers and six RBI in a doubleheader sweep against Elms for a ridiculous 2.467 OPS offensively for the Sharks.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK Allie Mulhern, Simmons (Senior, SS - Westford, Mass.) - Mulhern guided Simmons to a 2-0 week to open GNAC play with back-to-back shutouts against Elms on Sunday. Going 3-for-5, she slashed .600/.667/1.800 with two home runs and six RBI from the top of the Sharks lineup, registering a 2.467 OPS. In game one of the doubleheader, she hit her first HR of the season – an opposite field inside-the-park two-run HR – before going 2-for-3 while launching her second HR in a 12-0 win. |

PITCHER OF THE WEEK Erin Dighello, Albertus Magnus (Sr., P - Wallingford, Conn.) - Dighello was terrific in the pitching circle this week for Albertus, as she went a perfect 5-0 with a 0.91 ERA and 23 strikeouts in 23.0 innings. In her five starts, she tallied two complete-game efforts with one complete-game shutout. Dighello's shutout came against Mt. St. Vincent on Friday, when she also struck out a season-high eight batters while allowing just four hits. |

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK Sarah Frazier, Rivier (Fr., IF - Londonderry, N.H.) - Frazier has come alive in the last week racking up 8 hits for a .444 average. She tallied her second homerun of the young season while also batting in 9 of her teammates. She also adds a double and triple to her stats to give her a solid slugging percentage of .778. Frazier was a perfect 1.000 this week with 24 chances (10 putouts, 14 assists). |
GNAC WEEKLY HONOR ROLL
Jess Stettinger, Albertus Magnus (Sr., C - East Haven, Conn.) - Stettinger was outstanding over her three appearances last week, hitting .600 at the plate (6-for-10), with eight RBIs, four runs scored, and four doubles. The senior catcher was a key contributor to the Falcons going a perfect 4-0 last week. The highlight of her week came in the first game of AMC's GNAC-opening doubleheader against Dean on Saturday, when she went 3-for-4 from the plate with four RBIs, two runs, and three doubles to lead Albertus to its first conference win of the season.
Ema Signore, Albertus Magnus (Fr., P - Guilford, Conn.) - Signore was outstanding this past week, allowing zero runs over 8.0 innings pitched on her way to a 1-0 record. The freshman finished the week with a perfect 0.00 ERA to go along with four strikeouts and her first career complete-game shutout over her three appearances. She first collected three scoreless innings of relief in two victories against Eastern Nazarene on Thursday. She followed that up with a nearly flawless showing against Dean on Saturday, tossing 5.0 innings and allowing just two hits with three strikeouts on her way to her first career win.
Kassandra Register, Anna Maria (Sr., OF - Bakersfield, Calif.) - Register hit .600 with three RBI against Dean on Sunday, leading the AMCATS to a sweep.
Olivia Conti, Emmanuel (Mass.) (So, SS - Cranston, R.I.) - Conti helped Emmanuel get off to a 2-0 start in GNAC play by batting .800 in a doubleheader sweep over Norwich, going 4-for-5 with four runs score, two RBI while adding a walk. Conti opened the day for a 3-for-3 showing that included a double and two runs scored before following it up with a homer in the nightcap to post a 1.600 slugging percentage on the week. Conti was also perfect in the field at shortstop, posting a 1.000 fielding percentage for the Saints.
Grace Orcutt, Emmanuel (Mass.) (Sr, P/1B - Lexington, Mass.) - Orcutt played a key role in Emmanuel's 2-0 week, batting .600 with a pair of home runs while also registering a complete-game shutout victory in the circle for the Saints. The senior opened the week going 2-for-3 with a HR, three RBI and two runs scored in a GNAC win over Norwich and then followed it up going the distance in the circle for her first career complete-game shutout, scattering three hits over 5.0 innings while striking out five. She gave herself all the offense she'd need with a solo blast to get EC on the board and ended the day going 3-for-5 with four RBI and four runs as she posted a 1.571 OPS for the week.
Summer Ramundo, Johnson & Wales (RI) (Sr., P/1B - Lincoln Park, N.J.) - in three games this week, Ramundo finished with 5 RBIs and five hits, helping the Wildcats to a pair of victories. Ramundo finished with a .500 batting average and on base percentage, with a 1.200 slugging percentage. In a doubleheader sweep against Salve Regina, she hit a home run in both games, with two RBIs before driving home a fifth run in a GNAC tilt against Lasell on Saturday.
Katie Hopkins, Lasell (Sophomore, INF - Garden City Park, N.Y.) - Hopkins posted a 1.908 OPS in a 2-2 week, going 7-for-13 with four runs, three home runs, and 10 RBI. She hit all three bombs in a doubleheader split with GNAC powerhouse JWU, including a two-homer, five-RBI performance ina Game 1 5-3 victory.
Eryn Sheeley, Lasell (Sophomore, P/1B - North Haven, Conn.) - Sheeley posted a 1.65 ERA, striking out 22 (eight walks) in 17.0 innings last week. She earned two complete-game wins against Salem State and JWU.
Andria Braga, Regis (Mass.) (Jr., C/UTL - Rehoboth, Mass.) - Braga was one of Regis's top players over the past week. In the seventh inning of Wednesday's second game against Mass Maritime, with the bases loaded and one out, she caught a line drive and dove to tag the runner at third base to complete a game-ending double play. During Friday's doubleheader against Anna Maria, she went 3-for-5 with two doubles and a run scored. She led off the first game with a double and eventually came around to score the first run of the contest. In Sunday's first game against Saint Joseph's College, she led off the third inning with a double and later scored to help the Pride cut into their deficit. She is currently tied for second in the GNAC with seven doubles.
Jilian Glynn, Regis (Mass.) (So., P/OF - Londonderry, N.H.) - Glynn posted a 0.00 ERA last week, earning her first career victory as she pitched a complete game shutout Friday against Anna Maria. Throwing 88 pitches, including 57 strikes, Glynn allowed just five hits and two walks while striking out five opposing batters as the Pride opened conference play with a 3-0 victory. She stranded six AMCAT runners on base, including one on third base in the sixth inning after allowing a leadoff double. She also pitched 1 2/3 innings of relief in the first game against Saint Joseph's College Sunday, giving up just one hit and one walk.
Natalie Amato, St. Joseph (Conn.) (Sr., P - Cheshire, Conn.) - Earned the win by tossing a complete game one-hitter with 12 strikeouts in game two of a doubleheader against Elms on Saturday in her lone appearance of the week.
Ashley Emery, Saint Joseph's (Maine) (Senior, OF - Madison, Maine) - Emery posted a scorching .609 (14-23) batting average with nine runs, two doubles, seven stolen bases, and five RBI in a 4-2 week for the Monks. In a doubleheader sweep at Rivier on Saturday, the senior outfielder went 6-for-8 with three runs, two doubles, four stolen bases and four RBI and capped the week by going 4-for-7 with three runs, two steals, and an RBI in a pair of wins over Regis on Sunday.
Meredith Pence, Saint Joseph's (Maine) (Junior, P - Remington, Va.) - Pence posted a 2-1 record with a 1.58 ERA and 17 strikeouts over 17.2 innings last week. In two starts vs. GNAC foes over the weekend, the junior southpaw picked up a pair of wins and allowed one earned run on six hits and three walks with 10 strikeouts in 10 innings.
