OUTDOOR TRACK & FIELD: Colby-Sawyer Men, Emmanuel Women Capture 2022 GNAC Team Titles
The host Chargers men and Saints women were victorious on Sunday in New London, N.H.

NEW LONDON, N.H. – The Colby-Sawyer track and field teams hosted the 2022 Great Northeast Athletic Conference Outdoor Championship on Sunday, May 1st at the Sally Shaw Veitch Track and Field where the CSC men finished first with 213 points and the Emmanuel College women topped that field with 244 points. Competing in the meet were five GNAC members: Colby-Sawyer, Saint Joseph's College of Maine, Regis College, Lasell University, and Emmanuel.
MEN'S RECAP
Field Events:
- Starting the day on a high note was senior Alex Kusnarowis (Concord, N.H.) who earned first place in three of his events. During the discus throw, the senior threw for 37.35 meters, collecting a new personal record. Then, in the shot-put event, Kusnarowis threw for 11.90 meters. Finally, the New Hampshire native placed first in the men's hammer throw with a 29.20-meter throw.
- Taking the win in the men's pole vault event as well as collecting an impressive personal record was first-year Drew Doughty (Bedford, N.H.). Doughty vaulted for 3.70 meters to earn the event victory with teammate Bryce Carlson (Hampton Falls, N.H.) following behind in second place with a 3.35-meter vault.
- Earning a podium spot in the high jump was junior Omar Boone (Colorado City, Texas) with a 1.80-meter jump and a third-place finish.
Running Events:
- First-year Dylan Flewelling finished the 10k in 36:23.82 earning a second-place finish while three other Chargers occupied the fourth, fifth and sixth spots. Then, Flewelling collected his second podium spot in the 3000-meter steeple with a finishing time of 10:54.91 for second place.
- The team of junior Dean Miller (Andover, Mass.), sophomore Joseph Branchaud , first-year Chase Adams, and first-year Jordan Kofos collectively won the 4x100 meter relay with a time of 43.83.
- Adams continued the day with two event victories in the 110-meter hurdles and the 400-meter hurdles. Jacob Nichol (Concord, N.H.) followed behind Adams in the 110-meter hurdles with a third-place finish and a new personal record of 17.23 and another third-place finish in the 400 meters.
- Junior Terrance Harvey Jr. (Atlanta, GA) battled it out with his opponents as he took first place in the 800-meter race, crossing the line .01 of a second faster than the Regis runner.
- Miller added points to the total team score during the 200-meter race with a third-place finish while first-year Haven Deschenes (Peterborough, N.H.) finished third in the 5k.
- Colby-Sawyer took first place in the 4x400 relay for ten extra team points with Harvey, Adams, Goyette and Nichol finishing in 3:35.99 while placing second in the 4x800. This event's team included senior Brenden Sullivan, first-years Martin Steucek, Daniel Magill, and Achius Wolfley.

THE LEAD – For the first time in program history, the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Outdoor Track & Field championship trophy is coming home to 400 Fenway as the Emmanuel women's program scored 244 team points, besting the field by 61 points to claim the program's first outdoor title since the GNAC began hosting the spring championship back in 2018.
WOMEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
- The Saints picked up 10 first place finishes on the day with seven individual event wins and a clean sweep in the three relays. EC had nine runner up performances and seven third place finishers, totaling 26 events in which Emmanuel was up on the medalist podium for.
- First year A.J. Godios (Hamburg, N.Y.) was phenomenal recording several wins on the day including another school-record in the long jump at 5.17m. The Saints swept the event as fellow first-year Desiree Robinson (New Haven, Conn.) finished second with a leap of 4.95m followed by sophomore Beverly Browne (Amesbury, Mass.) in third with a jump of 4.90m.
- Robinson won the high jump clearing 1.52m and finished third in the triple jump.
- Godios also picked up a win in the 400m race with a time of 1:00.41, followed by Robinson in second place at 1:03.17. The duo finished first and third, respectively in the 200m event while Godios ran the 100m event in 13.28 seconds for a third place showing.
- Brown, Robinson, senior Haley Boisvert (Merrimack, N.H.) and Godios teamed up for a first place performance in the 4x100m relay with a time of 52.36 seconds.
- Boisvert, Robinson, Naomi Obenhaus (Sabattus, Maine) and Godios bested the field by almost five seconds in the 4x400m relay for another win.
- In the 4x800m race, Nicole Ruggiero (Peabody, Mass.), Deanna Ruggiero (Peabody, Mass.), Molly Winship (Boxford, Mass.) and Hannah Fitzpatrick (Revere, Mass.) clocked in at 11:01.37 for the win to sweep the relays.
- Fitzpatrick finished first in the 800m race with a time of 2:28.25 and first in the 3000m steeple clocking in at 12:32.71. She also finished second in the 1,500m event at 5:02.50.
- Senior Lauren Sterling (Rumford, Maine) finished second in both the 100m hurdles and high jump.
- Brown and Obenhaus also performed well in the pole vault, taking home second and third with Brown setting the Emmanuel record at 2.45 meters.
- In the throwing events, senior Caileigh Blackmer (Warwick, R.I.) took home the win in the hammer throw while first-year Alyssa French-Graham (Waterbury, Conn.) placed second in the discus. Sophomore Shakirah Ketant (Easton, Mass.) picked up a third place finish in the javelin while French-Graham was the highest EC finisher in the shot put in fourth.
UP NEXT
- The GNAC Championship concludes the outdoor season for most of the Saints while Godios and Blackmer will compete next weekend as individuals at the New England Division III Championships at Williams College in Williamstown, Mass.
