Emmanuel's Howell to be Honored in Inaugural Class of 'A STEP UP' Assistant Coaches Hall of Fame
26th-year Emmanuel assistant head coach Arthur Howell will be a part of the inaugural inductee class for the Assistant Coaches Hall of Fame, presented by A STEP UP.

ROCK HILL, S.C. - In May, A STEP UP, an Assistant Coaches Professional Development Symposium founded by Johnny and Felicia Allen will celebrate 10 Years of Educating, Equipping, Connecting and Inspiring college assistant basketball coaches at all levels of the game. To commemorate their 10 Year Anniversary the Allens along with their Board of Directors and support from presenting sponsor Glen Wright with Worth Advisors, will celebrate by establishing the A STEP UP Assistant Coaches Hall of Fame Presented by Worth Advisors.
This is the first Hall of Fame of its kind that specifically recognizes NCAA Divisions I, II and III men and women 'assistant' basketball coaches. A STEP UP is celebrating its 10th year in providing professional development for Coaches. The Class of 2019 will be the inaugural class inducted into the A STEP UP Assistant Coaches Hall of Fame on Tuesday, May 7, 2019 during the Symposium's Legends Breakfast from 7:30 am – 9:30 am at the downtown Sheraton Atlanta Hotel.
The 2019 A STEP UP Assistant Coaches Hall of Fame honorees will consist of twelve (12) inductees: four (4) from DI Men's Basketball; four (4) from DI Women's Basketball; two (2) each from Divisions II and III – one men's basketball and one women's basketball. The Class of 2019 includes:
Division I Inductees: Donny Daniels (Gonzaga), Chris Dailey (UConn), Mickie DeMoss (Retired), Stan Jones (Florida State), Carol Owens (Notre Dame), Steve Robinson (North Carolina), Dwayne Stephens (Michigan State) and Amy Tucker (Stanford);
Division II Inductees: C. White (Bentley) and Dan Shardo (Findlay);
Division III Inductees: Arthur Howell (Emmanuel College) and Tom Jessee (Augustana College).
Arthur Howell, Emmanuel College
Howell has spent 26 seasons at Emmanuel as an assistant coach. He has helped guide Emmanuel to a 565-185 (.753) overall record and 271-14 (.951) Great Northeast Athletic Conference mark and 21 consecutive winning seasons. He has been with the Saints for 16 GNAC Championships and NCAA Tournament runs, including Emmanuel's appearance in the NCAA Final Four in 2001, Sweet Sixteen in 2007 and Elite Eight in 2012. He was inducted into the New England Basketball Hall of Fame as part of the Class of 2015.
