Player Of The Week
Madi Zancan, Regis (Sr.)
Senior Madi Zancan delivered a dominant all-around week for the Pride off the bench, leading the team to a pair of GNAC road victories while stuffing the stat sheet on both ends of the floor. Over two games, Zancan averaged 17.5 points, 14.5 rebounds, 4.0 steals, and 2.0 blocks per contest, while shooting 73.9% from the free-throw line and logging nearly 30 minutes per game. Her performance against Saint Joseph (Conn.) was especially impactful, as she recorded her 10th double-double of the season and made the decisive play in the closing moments, drawing a double team before finding her teammate for the game-winning basket in a 51–49 victory. Zancan also posted 15 points and 12 rebounds in a win at Elms. The senior currently leads the GNAC in scoring, placing her amongst some of the best in DIII while grabbing 11.2 rebounds a night, which makes her third in the league.
Rookie Of The Week
Maggi Ellsworth, Norwich (Fr.)
Freshman Maggi Ellsworth delivered a dominant two-way performance across two key GNAC wins to help Norwich snap a five-game skid and improve to 2-0 in conference play. The freshman averaged 13.5 points, 8.0 rebounds, 4.5 steals, and 2.0 assists per game while shooting 52.4% from the field and 62.5% from three-point range. She erupted for 17 points in just 15 minutes off the bench against Dean, then followed with a near double-double of 10 points and nine rebounds in a milestone victory over Saint Joseph’s (Me.). Ellsworth added eight steals and four assists in the win over the Monks, helping Norwich claim its first win over Saint Joseph’s since 2015.
WEEKLY HONOR ROLL
Tanner Drury, Colby-Sawyer - Drury had an impressive game to hand the Chargers their first GNAC win of the season. She shot 6-10 from deep, scoring 18 of her 20 points from the 3pt line. Tanner also grabbed three rebounds while picking up two assists and two steals to pace the Chargers.
Abigail Lacy, Dean - Lacy averaged 22.5 points a game across two contests for the Bulldogs while collecting 7.5 rebounds per game.
Mary Turco, Elms - Turco collected a 13 point, 12 rebound double-double with four steals against Regis before putting up 20 points and nine rebounds in a win over Mitchell. She averaged 16.5 points and 10.5 rebounds with 2.5 steals on the week.
Geanna Bryant, Emmanuel - Bryant netted 14 points with six assists and nine steals in a win over Wheaton before scoring 11 points with seven rebounds in a win over Albertus Magnus. She finished her week with nine points, six rebounds, and five steals in a setback to Roger Williams.
Laura Johnson, Lasell - Johnson continued her dominance on the glass with 23 rebounds per game across a 1-1 week. She reached the 1,000 career rebounds milestone in a conference win against Rivier.
Sydney Perry, Rivier - Perry averaged 15.5 points per game, on 48% fg shooting and brought down 8.5 rebounds per game in a 1-1 conference week, which was highlighted by a 25 point, nine rebound outing in a win over Mitchell.
Elisabeth Stapelfeld, Saint Joseph's (Maine) - Stapelfeld scored a career-high 27 points on 10-of-18 (55.6%) shooting and became the 28th player in SJC program history to hit the 1,000-point mark in a close loss at Norwich on Saturday.
Nevaeh Yorke, University of Saint Joseph (Conn.) - Yorke had a stellar week for the Blue Jays, averaging 14.3 points, 13.3 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 4.0 steals per game during a 1-2 week. Posted a 20-20 game during the team's victory over Lasell, scoring a career-high 22 points while hauling in a career-high 20 rebounds.
