Player Of The Week
Camryn Lewis, New England College (Jr.)
Junior forward Camryn Lewis recorded two double-doubles in two GNAC wins this week for NEC. She went 7-for-11 from the field for 14 points and recorded 13 rebounds to contribute to their 19-point win against Colby-Sawyer on Tuesday. Lewis went 8-12 from the field for 18 points and grabbed 17 rebounds in the Pilgrims' 81-53 win against Mitchell. On the week, the junior averaged 16.0 points on 65.2 percent shooting and 15.0 rebounds in just 21.0 minutes per game. Lewis is currently second in the league at 11.6 rebounds a game.
Rookie Of The Week
Ariellys Velez, Albertus Magnus (Fr.)
Freshman guard Ariellys Velez helped guide the Falcons to two conference victories this past week. Velez netted 17 on 6-of-11 shooting in a 65-52 win over Elms before scoring 23 points and collecting seven boards, five assists, and four steals in a tight-knit 69-65 victory over Norwich. The freshman averaged 20 points, five rebounds, three assists, and two steals on the week and is currently averaging 16.4 points per game, which is third in the conference.
WEEKLY HONOR ROLL
Isabella Fiorillo, Albertus Magnus - Fiorillo netted a career-high 27 points in a win against Elms while collecting three steals before putting up 12 points and six rebounds in a tight victory over Norwich. On the week, she averaged 19.5 points a game with 4.5 rebounds and two steals.
Mary Turco, Elms - Turco put up 14.5 points and 12.0 rebounds in a 1-1 week for the Blazers. She collected 11 points, 11 rebounds, and two blocks against Albertus Magnus before putting up 18 points and 13 rebounds in a win over Colby-Sawyer.
Nylah Mitchell, Emmanuel - Mitchell put up 17.5 points and six rebounds with three steals in 18.5 minutes of action per game across two victories for the Saints. She put up 21 points, five rebounds, and three steals against Saint Joseph's (Maine) before outting up 14 points, seven rebounds, and three steals against the University of Saint Joseph (Conn.).
Abigail Duclos, Lasell - Duclos averaged 13.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 5.5 assists across two conference victories for the Lasers, which her week was highlighted by collecting 21 points, eight rebounds, and five assists against Dean. She also dished out six assists against Regis.
Maggi Ellsworth, Norwich - Ellsworth turned in a dominant two-way performance across a 1-1 week for Norwich, averaging 19.0 points, 8.5 rebounds, and 3.5 assists while shooting 42.4 percent from the field and 83.3 percent from the foul line. The first-year guard posted a career-high 26 points and 11 rebounds in Saturday’s narrow 69-65 loss at Albertus Magnus, hitting five three-pointers and adding four assists to lead a furious fourth-quarter comeback attempt. Earlier in the week, she chipped in 12 points, six rebounds, and three assists in a balanced 73-60 GNAC win at Rivier.
Madi Zancan, Regis - Zancan averaged 15.5 points and 9.5 rebounds per contest while shooting 42.1 percent from the field and an impressive 88.2 percent from the free-throw line in a 1-1 week for the Pride. Zancan totaled 31 points and 19 rebounds over the week, highlighted by a standout performance in the Pride’s 74-53 conference win over Rivier. In that victory, she poured in 21 points on 7-of-11 shooting, went a perfect 7-for-7 at the line, and pulled down 13 rebounds to secure a double-double. She also added two assists, four steals, and two blocks. Across both games, Zancan filled the stat sheet with 7 steals, 3 assists, and 2 blocks, playing a key role on both ends of the floor.
