Player Of The Week
Logan Brown, Saint Joseph's (Maine) (Sr.)
Senior guard Logan Brown powered the Monks to a pair of conference wins last week, erupting for 30.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 2.0 steals per game while shooting 64.5% (20-of-31) from the field and 63.0% (17-of-27) from three-point range in just 27 minutes a night. The senior guard poured in 27 points with five boards and went 7-of-13 from deep in Tuesday’s win over Lasell, then authored a historic performance Saturday at Dean—setting a Saint Joseph’s single-game record with 10 made threes while finishing with a career-high 34 points in a 105-57 victory. Brown is the league-leader in the conference in threes with 69, which also ranks her amongst some of the nation's best in the top-10.
Rookie Of The Week
Ariellys Velez, Albertus Magnus (Fr.)
Freshman guard Ariellys Velez delivered steady buckets for the Falcons this week, averaging 23 points on the week over two games in 2-0 week for Albertus Magnus. Velez scored a career-high 35 in a win over the University of Saint Joseph (Conn.) before finishing with 11 points in a blowout win over Rivier. The freshman is currently third in the GNAC in scoring at 16.8 points a game.
WEEKLY HONOR ROLL
Adriana DeBernardo, Albertus Magnus - In a 2-0 week, DeBernardo averaged 17.5 ppg and 7.5 rebs. She had a career-high 23 points against Rivier and added a double-double in their win over USJ with 12 points and 10 rebounds with four blocks.
Lauren Macdonald, Colby-Sawyer - MacDonald has one of her best weeks as a Charger where she averaged 18.5 ppg during a split week in conference play. Her best game came against the USJ Blue Jays where she led the team with 23 points on 50% shooting from the field and 6-6 from the line. Lauren added an average of nine rebounds a game as well to help the Chargers in their week.
Tyra Blye, Emmanuel - Blye averaged 18.5 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 4.5 steals across 23 minutes a game in a 2-0 week for the Saints, highlighted by a 22 point, six rebound outing against Regis. She also had 15 points and six steals against Elms.
Nylah Mitchell, Emmanuel - Mitchell averaged 13.5 points on 72.2% from the floor with four rebounds a game, highlighted by a 27 point, six rebound in a win over Regis.
Blaize Mack, Lasell - Mack collected a double-double with 20 points (7-of-13) and 13 rebounds in a setback to Saint Joseph's (Maine) while also dishing four assists and putting up two blocks and a steal defensively.
Jayden Estrada, New England College - Estrada averaged 18.0 points, 4.5 rebounds, 7.5 assists, and 1.5 steals during a 1-1 week for the Pilgrims. She recorded 13 points, five rebounds, three steals, and a team-high nine assists in Tuesday’s 81-66 win over Elms. She native capped the week with a career-high 23 points, team-high six assists, and four rebounds, in a hard-fought 83-81 loss to Regis on Saturday.
Maggi Ellsworth, Norwich - Ellsworth powered Norwich to a pair of GNAC victories with another strong all-around week, averaging 16.0 points, 9.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 4.0 steals per game while shooting 43.3 percent from the field and a perfect 4-for-4 from the free-throw line. The first-year guard helped fuel a comeback win over Colby-Sawyer with 15 points, 12 rebounds, four steals, and key defensive plays down the stretch, before following with a highly efficient 17-point performance on 8-of-14 shooting in a road win at Mitchell.
Madi Zancan, Regis - Zancan averaged 27.0 points per game over two conference contests. She shot an efficient 53.8 percent from the floor (21-for-39) and went 12-for-18 at the free throw line while averaging 33.0 minutes per game. Zancan opened the week by stuffing the stat sheet with 27 points, 12 rebounds, six assists, and five steals against Emmanuel. She followed that with another 27-point performance in an 83-81 Senior Day win over New England College, adding seven rebounds and four assists. Over the two games, she also averaged 9.5 rebounds, 5.0 assists, and 3.5 steals per contest.
