GNAC Women's Lacrosse Report: Week 4
Dean's Jada Fields (pictured) earned GNAC Goalkeeper of the Week, while SJC's Lydia Dexter and CSC's Heather Hanson continued their early-season hot streaks and awards going.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK Lydia Dexter, Saint Joseph's (Maine) (GR, A - Oakland, Maine) - Dexter tallied five goals and six assists with 10 ground balls in huge conference wins over Simmons and Emmanuel last week. The grad student attack netted the OT game-winner versus the Sharks on Tuesday and totaled seven points with three goals and four assists in a runaway win over the Saints on Saturday.

GOALKEEPER OF THE WEEK Jada Fields, Dean (Jr, GK - Acushnet, Mass.) - Fields earned a pair of wins last week in goal for the Bulldogs. She made seven saves in the team's first-ever GNAC win at Albertus Magnus. Fields ended the week with a career-high 18 saves to help the Bulldogs defeat Anna Maria 13-8.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK Heather Hanson, Colby-Sawyer (Fr, M - Marston Mills, Mass.) - Hanson was a key part in a big GNAC victory on Saturday for the Chargers women's lacrosse team scoring four goals and dishing out another assist. Hanson continues to thrive in the midfield secure a career-high 11 ground balls while also causing two turnovers. Hanson ranks fourth in all of NCAA Division III in ground balls per game and leads the GNAC in overall ground balls with 41.

HONOR ROLL
Katherine Raposo, Albertus Magnus (Sr., A - Warwick, R.I.) - Raposo led the way for the Falcons last week with 10 points on nine goals and an assist. She first recorded seven points (6 G, 1 A) in a hard-fought battle against Dean on Tuesday. The senior tallied her fifth hat trick of the season with three goals against Norwich on Saturday.
Ashley Rufo, Anna Maria (Sr., M - Pittsfield, Mass.) - Rufo tallied five goals, two assists, 10 ground balls and 10 caused turnovers this past week for the AMCATS.
Caroline Tompkins, Colby-Sawyer (Sr, M - Marblehead, Mass.) - Tompkins shined on her senior day as the Chargers picked up a big 16-10 victory over University of Saint Joseph. Tompkins showed up big in the circle with 10 draw controls on the day to go along with three goals, two assists and a pair of ground balls.
Maire Brown, Dean (Jr, C - Huntington, N.Y.) - Brown led the Bulldogs with nine points on seven goals and two assists in the team's first two GNAC wins in program history. She was one of three Bulldogs to score four times in the program's first-ever conference win at Albertus Magnus, 14-11. Brown followed with a hat trick, two assists and five ground balls in a 13-8 victory over Anna Maria.
Natalie Peterson, Dean (Fr, C - Hudson, Mass.) - Peterson helped the Bulldogs win the program's first two GNAC games with eight points on seven goals and one assist. She added 13 ground balls. Peterson began the week with a four-goal, eight draw control performance in the team's first-ever conference win at Albertus Magnus, 14-11. She ended the week with a hat trick, an assist and five draws in the 13-8 victory over Anna Maria.
Megan Steele, Emmanuel (Mass.) (Jr, M - Auburn, Maine) - Steele paced the Saints with seven points on the week, recording six goals and one assist. The junior scored a career-high five goals in Emmanuel's GNAC victory over Elms and then added two points on a goal and an assist vs. Saint Joseph's (ME) on the road. The Maine native also picked up three groundballs and caused one turnover.
Taina Gamory, Johnson & Wales (RI) (So., M - Warwick, N.Y.) - Playing in three games this week, Gamory notched nine goals and three assists for the Wildcats, totaling 12 points. Gamory scored one goal in a loss to Coast Guard, before scoring eight goals in a GNAC victory over the Rivier Raiders. She added three assists against the Raiders. On the week, she had 11 draw controls, four ground balls and three caused turnovers.
Sophia Gadsden, Lasell (Senior, Attack - Randolph, Mass.) - Gadsden had six goals and an assist for seven points in setbacks against UNE and Simmons last week.
Valentina Drown, Norwich (Jr., A - Acton, Maine) - Drown scored nine points on the week while scoring five goals on four assists while grabbing three ground balls on the week. Drown has nine shots on goal, putting 81.8 percent of her attempts on net.
Cayleen Defaranos, St. Joseph (Conn.) (Jr., A - Northford, Conn.) - Defaranos had the best week of her career in a USJ uniform and helped lead the Blue Jays to a 1-1 record on the week. Defaranos racked up a total of 13 points over a two-game span coming on nine goals and four assists. The Northford native opened the week with a career-best outing in a 20-11 road triumph at Regis on Tuesday. She matched a career-high with five goals and added a career-high four assists for a career-best nine-point outburst to lead the Blue Jays over the Pride. Defaranos followed that up with a four-goal effort on the road on Saturday in a hard-fought 16-10 setback at Colby-Sawyer.
Abby Stoller, Simmons (Grad Senior, A - Wayland, Mass.) - Stoller registered 10 goals and one assist for 11 points to guide Simmons to a 1-1 week, which included a 15-7 road victory over Lasell, which was the Sharks first win over the Lasers in the last three years. Against the Lasers, she tallied five goals for five points, while winning a career single-game high 12 draw controls and causing four turnovers. Earlier in the week, Stoller notched five goals and an assist for six points against Saint Joseph's (ME) on the road, where she also tallied seven draw controls and two ground balls.
