GNAC Women's Lacrosse Report: Week 4
Colby-Sawyer sophomore Heather Hanson went off in a 2-0 week, registering 11 goals, four assists, nine ground balls and 18 draw controls while surpassing 100 points for her young career.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK Heather Hanson, Colby-Sawyer (So, M - Barnstable, Mass.) - The reigning GNAC Rookie of the Year had a 15-point week for the Chargers, scoring 11 goals and dishing out four assists as CSC went 2-0. Just a sophomore, Hanson surpassed the 100-career point mark last Monday with four goals and three helpers in a 20-7 victory over Castleton, before registering a career-high seven goals plus an assist against Elms in an 18-10 win. The GNAC SAAC Commissioner's Council member also contributed nine ground balls, 18 draw controls and three caused turnovers on the week. |

GOALKEEPER OF THE WEEK Gianna Liquori, Elms (Junior, GK - East Longmeadow, Mass.) - The junior posted a .526 save percentage in a 1-1 week for the Blazers, stopping 20 of 38 shots overall, including seven of nine in just one half in an 18-4 victory over RIC.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Athena Merck, Norwich (Fr, A/M - West Yarmouth, Mass.) - Merck had the best week of her young career, logging seven goals and four assists for 11 points in outings against Castleton (15-12 L) and Albertus Magnus (12-10 W). Merck was a perfect 3-for-3 on shots against the Spartans, ripping three goals in while dishing out two helpers. The freshman followed that up scoring four goals in Norwich's first GNAC win of the year, scoring both the game-tying and game-winning goals in the fourth quarter against the Falcons. Merch also caused two turnovers, while going 2-2 on free-position shots. |
WEEKLY HONOR ROLL
Alexandra Barrett, Albertus Magnus (Jr., M - Northford, Conn.) - Barrett led the offensive attack for the Falcons last week, scoring five goals and tallying four assists for nine points. The junior netted two goals and two assists in a non-conference loss to Maritime, then tallied her first hat trick of the season to go along with two assists in the Falcons' setback to Norwich. Barrett also capped the week with eight ground balls, four draw controls, and four caused turnovers.
Anna-Elise Pikul, Elms (Senior, M - Belchertown, Mass.) - Pikul had seven goals and four assists for 11 points in a 1-1 week, including an eight-point performance in an 18-4 win over RIC last Monday.
Deja Srimouksavanh, Emmanuel (Mass.) (So, M - Portsmouth, N.H.) - Srimouksavanh led the Saints with 11 points in a 2-1 week, scoring seven goals while dishing out four assists. She started the week strong with five points versus Wentworth on two goals and three assists and then posted another five-point performance against Rivier with four goals and one assist. The sophomore was strong on the draw, adding 15 draw control wins to go along with four ground balls.
Madeleine Gould, Johnson & Wales (RI) (So., A - Oakdale, Conn.) - Gould racked up 13 goals in a pair of GNAC wins for the Wildcats last week. She potted six goals in a decisive win over Anna Maria on Wednesday before tallying nine points on seven goals and two apples in a road win at a Lasell on Saturday. Gould is tied for second in goals (16) and sits third in points (22) on JWU this season.
Michaila Furchak, Norwich (Gr, A - Nyack, N.Y.) - Furchak had six goals and three assists for nine points in a 1-1 week, while passing the 100-point plateau in a 15-12 setback versus Castleton. She now sits at 107 career points, just three shy of moving into the top-10 in program history.
Sarah Lachance, Rivier (So., M - Chelmsford, Mass.) - Lachance had a great day against Regis this weekend, going off for six goals and three assists. She added four groundballs, eight draw controls, and four caused turnovers.
Makenzie Dinger, St. Joseph (Conn.) (Sr., A/M - Hingham, Mass.) - Dinger continued her stellar senior campaign in a 2-0 week for the Blue Jays, registering 14 goals and three assists for 17 points to go along with 10 ground balls and 16 draw controls. She scored eight goals in a big 13-12 road victory over Lasell before producing six goals and three assists for nine points in a 19-0 shutout over Anna Maria. The Hingham, Mass. native currently leads the GNAC in goals (48) and points (57).
Lydia Dexter, Saint Joseph's (Maine) (GR, A - Oakland, Maine) - Dexter registered 10 goals, four assists, eight ground balls, and five draw controls in a pair of conference victories on the road last week. The grad attacker tallied five goals, two assists, and five ground balls in a 20-8 win at Dean College on Wednesday and added five goals, two assists, three ground balls, and three caused turnovers at Emmanuel on Saturday.
Abby Stoller, Simmons (Grad Student, M - Wayland, Mass.) - Tallying 14 goals and three assists for 17 points, Stoller guided Simmons to a 2-1 week, which included a pair of victories against against GNAC foes Regis and Dean to keep an unblemished 4-0 conference mark. Early in the week against non-conference Salve Regina, she posted six goals and an assists for seven points while also tallying five ground balls, six draw controls and four caused turnovers. Midway through week in a 20-3 road win over Regis, Stoller notched three goals with two assists for five points while winning five draw controls. She closed out the week notching five goals in a a 23-3 win over Dean.
