Norwich's Benjamin Stark and Nikky Ansley shined in the water in the inaugural report of the 2021-22 season.

MEN'S ATHLETE / ROOKIE OF THE WEEK Benjamin Stark, Norwich (So., Montverde, Fla.) - In Stark's first competition for Norwich against Maine Maritime on Saturday, he placed first in all four events that he competed in. He anchored the 400-yard medley relay as the team posted a time of 3:52.00. Stark's individual first places were in the 200-yard freestyle (1:50.67) and the 500-yard freestyle (5:02.40). Stark then anchored the final leg of the 400-yard freestyle relay, with his team taking first place in 3:21.78.

WOMEN'S ATHLETE OF THE WEEK Nikky Ansley, Norwich (Jr., Owens Cross Roads, Ala./Germany) - Ansley dominated her individual events in Saturday's home dual meet against Maine Maritime, winning all four events she swam in. She won the 50-yard freestyle (25.62), the 100-yard freestyle (57.35), and the 50-yard butterfly (28.05) She also swam the anchor leg in the victorious 400-yard medley relay team with a time of 4:32.62 (splitting a 56.01). |

WOMEN'S ROOKIE OF THE WEEK Laylan Harris, Regis (So., McKinney, Texas) - Harris has made an immediate impact starting out in competition for the Pride. In the season-opening meet against USJ and UNE, Harris finished first in the 200 freestyle in 2:11.83, the 50 freestyle in 26.88 seconds, and the 50 butterfly in 29.15 seconds, plus she anchored the 200 freestyle relay to a three-second win with a total time of 1:51.45. Saturday at the Roger Williams Invitational, Harris finished fifth in both the 200 freestyle (2:11.89) and the 50 freestyle (27.03) as well as sixth in the 100 freestyle (1:00.46). Harris also led off the 200 freestyle relay with a 50 free split of 27.35 seconds to help the team improve on its previous time with a mark of 1:50.33. |
GNAC WEEKLY HONOR ROLL
Kelsey Brown, Colby-Sawyer - Brown won the 200 fly against Keene State and won the 200 IM against both Keene State and Stonehill.
Taylor Gibson, UNE (Sr., Wakefield, Mass.) - Gibson won the 1000-yard freestyle in 12:52.54, less than two seconds ahead of Thalia Bowie of Regis.
Kyleigh Boatwright, Regis (Sr., Roseville, Calif.) - In the season-opening meet against USJ and UNE, Boatwright led off the 200 medley relay on its way to a meet-opening victory, and then she finished first in both the 100 backstroke in 1:05.01 and the 100 individual medley in 1:06.89, plus she ended up in second place in the 50 butterfly with a time of 29.24 seconds, just 9/100ths of a second behind teammate Laylan Harris. Saturday at the Roger Williams Invitational, Boatwright anchored the 200 medley relay to a second place finish, plus she ended up second in the 100 freestyle by just 6/100ths of a second in 58.16 seconds, third in the 200 freestyle in 2:10.32, and fourth in the 100 backstroke in 1:05.55. She capped her day by leading off the 400 freestyle relay with a 100 free split of 59.65 seconds, helping the team to a second place finish in the event
Brendan Pike, Regis (Sr., Weymouth, Mass) - Pike started the 2021-22 season with two event victories during Regis' double-dual meet against USJ and UNE. Pike won the 1000 freestyle in 11:15.06 and the 100 breaststroke in 1:08.09. He also finished second in the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:27.93. Pike is one of the captains of this year's Regis swimming and diving team
Kirk Schultz, Roger Williams (Sr., Cos Cob, Conn.) - The senior picked up three wins on the day at the Roger Williams Invitational in the 200 Yard Freestyle (1:50.14), 500 Yard Freestyle (5:05.96), and 400 Yard Freestyle Relay (3:23.65).
Callie Sullivan, Roger Williams (Sr., Wrentham, Mass.) - At the Roger Williams Invitational, Callie Sullivan (Wrentham, Mass.) logged two relay wins in the 200 Yard Freestyle (1:45.65) and 200 Yard Medley (1:55.53) and one individual win in the 50 Yard Freestyle (26.31), in addition to taking second in the 200 Yard Freestyle (1:04.80) and 100 Yard Backstroke (1:04.80).
Jacob Wyse, USJ (Sr.) - Wyse posted a pair of individual top-five finishes this past weekend at the Roger Williams Invitational. He registered a fourth-place swim, the best finish for any USJ swimmer on the day, in the 200 IM with a final time of 2:10.00. He followed that up with a fifth-place swim in the 100 Breaststroke touching the wall with a time of 1:06.74.
Brooke Podsiadlo, Saint Joesph's (Me.) (So., Granby, Mass.) - Podsiadlo was a double event winner in the 1000-Free (12:48.06) and 500-Free (6:03.09) versus Colby Sawyer on Friday, October 1st. She also swam the backstroke leg of the Medley Relay (2:02.23) for a new team record and was part of the winning 200 Free Relay (1:47.86). At Husson on Friday, October 15th, the sophomore won the 200-Free (2:10.92) and placed second in the 50-Fly (31.83)
