WSWIMDIVE: Norwich Atop Women's Leaderboard After Day One Of GNAC Championships
WORCESTER, Mass. - The Norwich women's team finished day one of the 2026 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Swimming & Diving Championships at the top spot of the team leaderboards as the Cadets put up 358 points.
Norwich collected four victories including a relay victory as Alannah Kelliher captured the 50 butterfly, Delaney Allen won the 100 Breaststroke, Ashley Morin captured the 200 Backstroke, and a 400 medley relay that consisted of Allen, Kelliher, Katelyn Daly, and Deanna Parot.
University of Saint Joseph (Conn.) finished second on the day with 218 points as they were led by Sara Omar, who won the 1000 freestyle for the Blue Jays. Regis followed behind in third with 193 points as they look to shake up the leaderboards. Simmons finished in fourth in 190 while having two event victories, one of which came from Carli Quinlan, who had set a conference record in the 200 freestyle preliminaries with a record time of 1:54.10. The Sharks won the 200 medley relay that consisted of Quinlan, Bee Eckels, Julia Long, and Laura Luthi. Saint Joseph's (Maine) finished fifth with 117 and Elms came in sixth with 74 points. Albertus Magnus had collected 45 points as Mia Cortes collected an individual victory in the 400 IM.
Day two of the GNAC Championships features the next nine scoring events counting towards the GNAC title. Additionally, prior to the start of the evening finals session, the conference will recognize its senior competitors with the Senior Recognition Ceremony, starting at 5:55 PM.
