WSWIMDIVE: Simmons Selected To Finish First In 2026 Women's Pre-Championship Poll
WINTHROP, Mass. – The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Men's and Women's Swimming & Diving Championships will take place next weekend at the Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) Sports and Recreation Center in Worcester, Massachusetts. Five men's and seven women's swimming and diving teams will compete in the three-day event that takes place from Friday, Feb. 6 to Sunday, Feb. 8.
Each day of the meet will be broken into a morning and evening session with preliminary heats beginning at 10 a.m. each day. Diving events will follow prelims with finals scheduled to begin around 6 p.m (5 p.m. on Sunday).
For those who are unable to attend this weekend's Championships, the Conference has partnered with Abreu Media Productions to provide a live stream for each session of the event. The stream can be viewed on the GNAC YouTube channel.
Simmons comes into the 2026 event as the favorites to win next weekend's three-day championship event in the Pre-Championship Coaches Polls, which were conducted last week. They earned 45 points and five first place votes in this years pre-championship poll.
Following behind them is reigning champion Norwich University, who earned 43 points and two first-place votes as the Cadets look to four-peat next weekend. Tied for third with 33 points each were both Regis College and the University of Saint Joseph (Conn.). Elms took the fifth spot with 17 points while Saint Joseph's (Maine) (15) and Albertus Magnus (10) fills out the final two spots at sixth and seventh.
