GNAC Women's Tennis Report: Week 1
Reigning GNAC Player of the Year Yashu Yang of Colby-Sawyer has laid claim to the GNAC's Week 1 Player of the Week honors.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK Yashu Yang, Colby-Swayer (Jr. - Kunming City, China) Yang came away with four of the Chargers' five points in a tough 0-2 start to the season. The junior combined with senior Alexa Conlin at the top doubles spot for an 8-1 victory over a duo from Gordon. Yang then cruised to a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Anne Carsey at the top singles flight. Against Endicott, Yang and Conlin came away with an 8-5 win at No. 1 doubles. Yang then earned a 6-4, 6-2 straight sets win over Justine Hoover at the top flight. |

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK Hill quickly made herself comfortable in the number two singles position as she picked up a win in the wildcats lone match of the week against Curry College. In her first collegiate match, she topped her opponent 6-0 in the opening set before holding strong for a 6-2 win. |
WEEK 1 HONOR ROLL
Claire Parry, Johnson & Wales (Jr. - Westport, Conn.) - Parry won both matches against Curry on Friday and helped the Wildcats to a 8-1 win against the Colonels. She took a 6-0, 7-5 win in the number one singles spot and teamed with sophomore Drew Bobey to earn an 8-1 victory in the top doubles slot.
Katelyn Mogelnicki, Regis (Mass.) (So. - Wethersfield, Conn.) - Mogelnicki won in both singles and doubles convincingly as the Pride opener their season with a 9-0 victory over Thomas College Saturday afternoon. At number two doubles, she joined with Ginger Boodakian for an 8-1 victory. She clinched the team victory at number three singles with a straight-set victory, not losing a game in the 6-0, 6-0 win.
