GNAC Men's Volleyball Report: Week 4
Wentworth freshman Alex McLane averaged 4.20 kills per set while hitting an impressive .436 in a 1-1 week for the Leopards to capture GNAC Offensive Player and Rookie of the Week.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER & ROOKIE OF THE WEEK Alex McLane, Wentworth (Fr., OH - Columbus, Ohio) McLane averaged 4.20 kills per set in a 1-1 week for the 13th-ranked Leopards. Finished with double-digit kills in both matches, 10 vs Endicott and 11 in a sweep over Illinois Tech, and hit a thunderous .436 for the week. In the Leopards' lone setback to #14 Endicott, McLane hit .474 with 10 kills and just one error on 19 swings |

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK Josh Pitzer, Johnson & Wales (RI) (Sr., MB - North Kingstown, R.I.) Averaged 1.00 blocks per set set in a 4-0 week at the Golden Flyer Invitational. He had a season-high eight blocks in the win over Geneva and also had 4 blocks versus D'Youville and Medaille. Offensively , he chipped in with 1.29 kills per set while hitting .360. |
WEEK 4 HONOR ROLL
Seamus McDonagh, Emmanuel (Mass.) (Sr, S - Long Beach, N.Y.) - McDonagh paced the Saints in a 1-1 week doing a little bit of everything on the court by averaging 2.17 kills, 1.83 digs, 5.00 assists, 0.50 aces and 0.50 blocks per set. The senior enjoyed a strong outing in a 3-0 win over Dean collecting 18 assists, 11 kills, five digs, three aces and two total blocks.
Jack Pincince, Johnson & Wales (RI) (So., OH - South Kingstown, R.I.) - Averaged 4.00 kills and 2.36 digs per set and hit .293 as the Wildcats went 4-0 at the Golden Flyer Invitational, defeating D'Youville, Thiel, Geneva and Medaille. He had three double-doubles and produced a career-high 28 kills (5.60/set) in the 3-2 win over Geneva. He also posted 18 kills and 13 digs versus Thiel in five sets.
Brenden Joyce, Lasell (Fr., OH - Randolph, Mass.) - Joyce finished the 3-1 weekend with a total of 62 kills, 21 digs, and 10 total blocks for the Lasers. He averaged 3.88 k/s while hitting .331 over the four matches. In the only loss of the weekend, Joyce totaled a career-high 27 kills in the five-set loss and hit .377 to go along with seven digs. In the five-set win over Nazareth College he was credited 19 kills and only 5 errors on 41 attempts.
Brendan Lam, Regis (Mass.) (So., S/RS - Rockville, Md.) - As the Pride's starting setter, Lam played a significant role in both Regis victories over the past week. Appearing in two sets Thursday, he collected 15 assists along with a kill, two service aces, and four digs in the Pride's victory over Dean. Sunday, he led Regis to a sweep of Bard with 28 assists, two kills, three service aces, three digs, and two block assists. He helped the Pride post the two highest hitting percentages of the season so far: .299 against Dean and .225 against Bard.
Josh Nolen, Regis (Mass.) (Fr., M - Fairfax, Va.) - Nolen was one of Regis' most consistent performers in the team's first two victories of the season. Thursday against Dean, he appeared in two sets, collecting five kills on six attack attempts without an error for an .833 hitting percentage. In the Pride's second match of the day Sunday, he finished with nine kills in 16 attempts with just one error for a .500 hitting percentage, plus he collected three total blocks as Regis swept Bard.
Peter Klembczyk, Wentworth (Jr., L - Penfield, N.Y.) - Averaged 2.29 digs per set in the 1-1 split for WIT. Collected 16 digs across the two matches, nine coming in the Leopards' setback to #14 Endicott, while he finished the week with seven in a 3-0 win over Illinois Tech. Additionally dished out four assists.
