GNAC Women's Tennis Report: Week 3
Colby-Sawyer's Yashu Yang has laid claim to her second Player of the Week honor in three weeks, while JWU's Emily Hill captures her third straight Rookie of the Week accolade.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK Yashu Yang, Colby-Swayer (Jr. - Kunming City, China) Yang won all four of her matches once again to improve to 5-0 in singles and 5-0 in doubles this season. She notched two of the team's three points in a 6-3 loss to Plymouth State with a 6-0, 6-0 win at the top singles flight and an 8-2 win at No. 1 doubles with Alexa Conlin. She continued her dominant play at No. 1 singles with a 6-0, 6-1 win in a tough 5-4 loss to Simmons. She and Conlin also won their doubles match by an 8-2 score. |

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK First year Emily Hiill continued her steadiness on the tennis courts as she led Johnson & Wales to a 2-0 week, including help Wildcats improve to 2-0 in conference play. Against USJ she shutout Domonique Carnot in two sets (6-0, 6-0) in second singles. Earlier in the week in a 6-3 win over Bridgewater, Hill won both her singles and doubles matches, knocking Olivia Sweeney in three sets (3-6, 6-1, 12-10) and teamming with Kourtney Moore to take second doubles, 8-4. |
WEEK 3 HONOR ROLL
Sharon Biondi, Eastern Nazarene (Sr. - Barquisimeto, Venezuela) - Biondi posted a win in doubles play and a victory at the top singles spot to help Eastern Nazarene down Gordon 6-3.
Magdalena Hubel, Eastern Nazarene (Fr. - Berlin, Germany) - Magdalena Hubel notched a victory at the top doubles position before earning a straight-sets win at the No. 3 singles slot to help Eastern Nazarene down Gordon 6-3.
Kourtney Moore, Johnson & Wales (RI) (So. - Roswell, Ga.) - Sophomore Kourtney Moore guided Johnson & Wales to a 2-0 week which included improving to 2-0 in conference play following an 8-1 win over USJ on Saturday. Against the Blue Jays, she blanked Elaina Griffiths in third singles, 6-0, 6-0 after pairing with teammate Kat Ledesma to shutout Carolyn Callahan and Marie Emerson, 8-0. Earlier in the week, against Bridgewater State, she won third singles decisively (6-1, 6-0) and edged out the Bears' Angelique Gray and Rachel Tarantino in second doubles, 8-4.
