GNAC Men's Volleyball Report: Week 7
Rivier's David Smith and Francis Kokoros collected weekly honors after the Raiders defeated GNAC rival Wentworth in five sets last week.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK David Smith, Rivier (Sr, OH - Clinton, Ohio) Smith led Rivier to a 2-1 week including a win over Wentworth to help the Raiders remain undefeated in conference play. The senior outside hitter averaged 3.67 kills/set with a .271 hitting percentage on the week. Smith highlighted his week with a double double against conference rival Wentworth scoring 15 kills and 11 digs in the five-set victory. |

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK Francis Kokoros, Rivier (Sr, MH - Braintree, Mass.) Kokoros was huge at the net for the Raiders rejecting 18 of the opponents attacks in just 12 sets played for a 1.50 blocks/set average. The senior middle blocker paced Rivier's defense with 8 blocks against Wentworth to help the Raiders remain undefeated in conference play. Kokoros was just as solid on the offensive side averaging 2.58 kills/set and a .349 hitting percentage in the three-match span. |

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK Giovani Dos Reis, Colby-Sawyer (Fr, OH - Hillside, N.J.) Dos Reis had a solid week in the Chargers' 3 victories. He averaged 2.10 kills on .308 hitting, 3.80 digs and 1.20 aces per set. The freshman began the week with nine kills on .421 hitting to go with 15 digs and four aces in a 3-1 win over Dean. Dos Reis followed with four kills, 11 digs and an impressive eight aces in a 3-0 win over Lesley. In the team's second 3-0 win over Lesley, the freshman posted eight kills and 12 digs. |
WEEK 7 HONOR ROLL
Orlando Plagata, Colby-Sawyer (So, OH - Los Angeles, Calif.) - Plagata led the Chargers with 29 kills and 2.90 kills per set on .292 hitting in a 3-0 week. He also averaged 4.90 digs. The sophomore began the week with eight kills and a match best 24 digs in a 3-1 win over Dean. He then posted 14 kills on .545 hitting in the team's first 3-0 win over Lesley. Plagata followed with seven kills and 18 digs in the second 3-0 victory over Lesley on Friday.
Inelson Alves, Regis (Mass.) (Jr., OH/RS - Brockton, Mass.) - Alves once again led Regis offensively as the Pride faced Nichols College in their only match of the past week. He reached double figures in kills for the third straight match and fifth time overall with 11 kills against the Bison. He posted a hitting percentage of .269, his highest for the season in a contest with at least 10 attack attempts. Alves also notched an assist, a service ace, and three digs as the Pride were close to the Bison in all three sets.
