GNAC Men's Basketball Report: Week 12
Point guard Jaecee Martin from No. 6 and unbeaten USJ (21-0) helped guide the Blue Jays to GNAC weeks over the No. 2, No. 3 and No. 4 teams in the league standings last week.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK Jaecee Martin, St. Joseph (Conn.) (Sr., G - Hartford, Conn.) - In a 3-0 GNAC week for the No. 6 Blue Jays, the last undefeated team in Division III (21-0), Martin averaged 14.0 points, 7.3 rebounds and 4.7 assists while shooting 51.6% (16-31 FG, 10-17 FT), as USJ defeated the #2, #3 and #4 teams in the league standings. In-state Connecticut rival Albertus Magnus provided a road scare to USJ last Monday, as Martin had 16 points and nine boards in a narrow 85-81 victory. He also registered a 14-point, 10-rebound double-double in a road win over Lasell before producing 12 points and eight assists against Emmanuel.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK Jalen Olivero, Norwich (So., G - Holyoke, Mass.) - Olivero averaged 13.5 points and 6.0 rebounds while shooting 52.6% (10-19 FG, 3-7 3PT, 4-4 FT) in a 2-0 week for the Cadets. In a key 61-60 road GNAC victory over Emmanuel on Wednesday, the guard had 17 points, six boards, four assists (no turnovers) and four steals in 38 minutes of action. In a 10-point win over Dean on Saturday, he registered 10 points, six rebounds and eight assists (two turnovers) in the home win.

HONOR ROLL
Davon Warner, Albertus Magnus (Sr., G - New Haven, Conn.) - Warner had one of his best weeks of the season in a busy five-game week, averaging 22.0 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 2.4 steals while shooting an impressive 51.9% (41-79 FG, 21-50 3PT, 7-10 FT) overall as the Falcons went 4-1 in GNAC play. in a 4-1 week for the Falcons. He kicked off the week by scoring 19 points in the home setback to USJ before tallying 23 points, a rebound, and four steals in the 83-79 road win over JWU. He then followed up with a season-high 24 points and five rebounds in the 82-73 win over Regis, before recording his second 23-point performance in the Falons' 93-67 win over Colby-Sawyer. Warner closed out the week netting his fourth straight 20+ game as he tallied 21 points in another win over JWU.
Omar Boone, Colby-Sawyer (Jr, F - Colorado City, Texas) - Boone averaged 21.5 points and 10.0 rebounds in the Chargers' 1-1 week. He shot 57.7% (15-26) overall, starting the week with a 16-point, 11 rebound performance, followed by a career-high 27 points against Albertus Magnus.
Scott Lampron, Colby-Sawyer (Jr, G - Concord, N.H.,) - Lampron stole the show on Wednesday night in a big win for Colby-Sawyer against Rivier. Lampron poured in a career-high 38 points on 66.7% shooting (14-21 FG, 3-7 3PT, 8-9 FT) from the field. Lampron did most of his work in the second half, scoring 29 points including 13-straight during the closing minutes. Lampron closed the week with a 12-point performance against Albertus Magnus.
Mark Blair, Dean (Jr, G - Rosedale, N.Y.) - Blair averaged 14.7 points, 10 rebounds, 6.7 assists and 2.3 steals per game in a 1-2 week for the Bulldogs. Highlighting the week was a triple-double of 16 points, 13 rebounds and 12 assists that helped Dean to an important 98-85 GNAC win over Elms.
Donte Pope, Emmanuel (Mass.) (So, G - Middletown, Conn.) - Pope averaged 14.5 points, 7.5 rebounds and 2.0 steals in a two-game week for Emmanuel. The guard opened the week with a double-double, scoring 15 points to go along with 11 boards while also grabbing four steals versus Norwich before netting 14 points against No. 6 USJ.
EJ Day, Lasell (Senior, Guard - Norwalk, Conn.) - Day averaged 22.0 points on 48.6% shooting to go with 5.0 assists and 2.5 steals in a 1-1 week, including a 20-point, eight-assist, four-steal effort in a 99-64 win over Anna Maria.
Donovan Lewis Jr., Norwich (Sr., F - Savannah, Ga.) - Lewis Jr. averaged 24.0 points (67.7%) and 5.0 rebounds as the Cadets picked up a pair of key GNAC victories this past week. Lewis Jr. scored 28 points on Saturday in the Cadets matchup against Dean, where he earned he broke the 1000 career point milestone with a dunk in the final minute of regulation.
Jalil Wilkerson, Regis (Mass.) (Sr., G - New Haven, Conn.) - Wilkerson led Regis to a 2-1 week after averaging 17.3 points, 6.0 rebounds and 4.0 assists. Last Monday at Anna Maria, he finished with 12 points, eight rebounds, five assists, and five steals. In Tuesday's victory over Dean, he shot 8-for-14 from the field and 4-for-4 from the free throw line for a career-high 20 points, plus he collected four steals. Thursday at Albertus Magnus, close to where he grew up, he once again scored 20 points, shooting 8-for-15 from the field, plus he earned eight rebounds, six assists, and five steals. Wilkerson is now just three steals away from becoming the fifth player in program history with at least 100 career steals and nine steals away from setting a new Regis single-season steals record, as he currently has 56 steals this season, leading the GNAC and 15th in Division III with 2.9 steals per game.
Josef Buford, Rivier (Jr., F - Charleston, S.C.) - Buford averaged 15.5 points (66.7%) and 4.5 rebounds in a 1-1 week, including a team-high 18 points with seven rebounds in an 81-67 win over Elms.
