GNAC Men's Basketball Report: Week 13
Lasell's Jonathan Friberg and Anna Maria's Gabe Armstead took home weekly awards in the final report of the 2021-22 season, as the GNAC Tournament tips off on Tuesday night.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK Jonathan Friberg, Lasell (Graduate Student, Forward - North Attleboro, Mass.) - Friberg averaged 17.0 points on 61.5% shooting (16-26) and an impressive 16.5 rebounds in a 1-1 week for the Lasers, who clinched the No. 3 seed in the upcoming GNAC Tournament. After rewgistering 19 points and 17 rebounds (eight offensive) in a 65-55 win over Regis, he had 15 points and 16 boards (eight offensive) in a road setback against Saint Joseph's of Maine.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK Gabe Armstead, Anna Maria (So., F - Dallas, Ga.) - Armstead was a dominant force as the AMCATS finished their regular season on a high note, averaging 22.0 points, 9.5 rebounds, 2.5 blocks and 2.0 assists while shooting 50% (16-32 FG, 3-4 3PT, 9-13 FT) in wins over Emmanuel (56-46) and Elms (86-70). The rookie's performance helped lead Anna Maria to the No. 4 seed and a first-round bye in the upcoming GNAC Tournament.

HONOR ROLL
Kevin Cummings, Colby-Sawyer (Fr, G - Portsmouth, N.H.) - Cummings ended his shooting-streak in a big way at Saint Joseph's of Maine registering a career-high 23 points on 8-10 from the field and 4-6 from deep. Cummings also notched four rebounds and a pair of steals in the big road win. Cummings followed up the performance as the leading scorer for the Chargers against Regis College putting up 16 more points and grabbing four rebounds.
Donte Pope, Emmanuel (Mass.) (So, G - Middletown, Conn.) - Pope closed out the regular-season averaging 16.3 points and 8.7 rebounds over three GNAC contests for the Saints. He started the week out with a 13 point, 10 rebound double-double vs. Anna Maria before a team-high 16 point outing vs. Brandeis. Pope wrapped up the GNAC slate with a 20 point outing vs. Dean, shooting 81.8% from the field (9-for-11) to go along with nine boards and three assists in the 86-61 win.
Donovan Lewis Jr., Norwich (Sr., F - Savannah, Ga.) - Lewis averaged 12.3 points and 5.7 rebounds in a 2-1 week as the Cadets sured up the No. 6 seed in the 2022 GNAC Tournament.
Marc Trinidad, Regis (Mass.) (Sr., F - Bronx, N.Y.) - Trinidad led the Pride to a 2-1 week and a home game in the upcoming GNAC Tournament, averaging 19.0 points, 9.3 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 2.0 steals and 2.0 blocks. Tuesday night, he notched his seventh double-double of the season with 16 points and 11 rebounds against Lasell, plus he earned two assists, three steals, and one block. On Senior Night against Johnson & Wales, he finished with 14 points, nine rebounds, and five assists as the Pride rallied to defeat the Wildcats. Trinidad wrapped up the week with a career-high 27 points Saturday at Colby-Sawyer, shooting 12-for-18 from the field in the contest. He also contributed eight rebounds, two assists, two steals, and four blocks. He played 116 of the possible 120 minutes over the week and is now seventh in scoring as well as fifth in rebounding in the GNAC.
Jaecee Martin, St. Joseph (Conn.) (Sr., G - Hartford, Conn.) - Martin averaged 16.7 points 6.0 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 3.0 steals in a 2-1 week, with the only blemish coming against No. 24 Yeshiva.
Nicholas Curtis, Saint Joseph's (Maine) (2022, G) - Curtis averaged 21.5 points and 4.0 rebounds while shooting 47.2% (17-36 FG, 7-18 3PT, 2-2 FT) in a 1-1 week, including a 27-point showing against Colby-Sawyer.
