Waking up at the break of dawn to my 6 o’clock alarm going off, bugging me to hop out of bed and get my basketball attire on. After getting up and getting ready, it was time to truck over to the athletic center to meet fellow Mount Ida Mustangs for a thirst-quenching boot camp.
Once in the gym, the basketball shoes are put on and we are all ready to start some dynamic stretches. With all my fellow student-athletes at Ida, we made it to the baseline and prepared ourselves for a workout. As a member of the Mount Ida women’s basketball team, it was time to get some preseason conditioning in.
Once it was time, the Mount Ida Mustangs sprinted down and back along the court, hearing the squeaks of basketball shoes hitting the court when pivoting at the lines. For the next 45 minutes, my fellow Mustangs and I sprinted until our legs felt like jelly. Once sprints were all done, it was time for me to get to class.
Just a Tuesday morning with boot camp and class to show how a true collegiate student-athlete functions...
GNAC Note: The Mustangs will tip off the 2014-15 season on
November 15 at Brandeis. Jesse, a Marshfield, Mass. native,
averaged 9.0 points and 3.9 rebounds as a freshman last
season.
