GNAC Players of the Week: September 15
Stephen Armstrong (Mens Cross Country, Emmanuel), Maddie Breeland (Womens Volleyball, Emerson), Taylor Dey (Womens Tennis, Emmanuel), Doug MacCallum (Mens Soccer, St. Josephs Maine), Samantha Reynolds (Womens Soccer, Johnson & Wales), and Cat Viglienzoni (Womens Cross Country, Emerson) have been named Great Northeast Athletic Conference Players of the Week. Will Pike (Mens Soccer, St. Josephs Maine) and Cait Witham (Womens Soccer, St. Joseph Conn.) were named Goalkeepers of the Week

(Women’s Tennis, Emmanuel), Doug MacCallum (Men’s
Soccer, St. Joseph’s – Maine), Samantha Reynolds
(Women’s Soccer, Johnson & Wales), and Cat Viglienzoni
(Women’s Cross Country, Emerson) have been named Great
Northeast Athletic Conference Players of the Week. Will Pike
(Men’s Soccer, St. Joseph’s – Maine) and Cait
Witham (Women’s Soccer, St. Joseph – Conn.) were named
Goalkeepers of the Week.
Men’s Cross Country – Stephen Armstrong,
Emmanuel, So., Revere, Mass.
The sophomore led Emmanuel to a 3rd place finish and a 1st place
finish among GNAC opponents in the Travis Fuller Invitational.
Armstrong finished 1st for Emmanuel and 3rd overall with his 5-mile
course time of 28:42.
Women’s Cross Country – Cat Viglienzoni,
Emerson, Jr., Soquel, Calif.
Viglienzoni was the top finisher of 70 runners in the Travis
Fuller meet with a time of 20:13.
Men’s Soccer – Doug MacCallum, St.
Joseph’s (Maine), Sr., Hingham, Mass.
MacCallum tallied three goals in two games, including the
game-winner in double overtime against Johnson & Wales on
September 12th, for the Monks last week.
Women’s Soccer – Samantha Reynolds, Johnson
& Wales, So., Plymouth, Mass.
Scored all three goals in the Wildcats impressive 3-2 victory
against Norwich on the road on Saturday afternoon, keeping the
Wildcats undefeated at 3-0 for the season.
Women’s Tennis – Taylor Dey, Emmanuel, Fr.,
Woodbridge, Conn.
Freshman Taylor Dey went undefeated in her #1 singles spot this
week, winning both of her matches in straight sets. Dey defeated
her Rhode Island College opponent, 6-2 and 6-2, and her Curry
College opponent, 6-3 and 6-3.
Women’s Volleyball – Maddie Breeland, Emerson,
So. Fairfax, Va.
Named to the All-tournament team at the Days Inn of Campton
Tournament at Plymouth State University where she led Emerson to a
3-1 record and the runner-up spot in the tournament.
Men’s Soccer – Will Pike, St. Joseph’s
(Maine), Jr., Gorham, Maine
In a 2-1 week for the Monks, Pike allowed three goals with 18
saves in 290 minutes of play. The senior netmimder posted his
second shutout of the season in a 1-0 2OT victory over Johnson
& Wales on September 12th.
Women’s Soccer – Cait Witham, St. Joseph
(Conn.), Sr., Prospect, Conn.
Had two shutouts this week vs. UMASS-Boston and Bay Path and only
allowed one goal vs. Emmanuel College.
