GNAC Men's Basketball Report: Week 3

(FOR THE WEEK OF NOV. 19-25)

PLAYER OF THE WEEK Mike Rapoza, Anna Maria (Jr., F - Charlton, Mass.) In a 106-104 overtime win against Clark last Tuesday at home, Rapoza led the AMCATS back from a 11-point halftime deficit with a 30-point performance, including 25 in the second half, to go along with 12 rebounds, three assists and four steals while turning it over just once. He was 10-of-12 from the floor and 10-of-14 from the FT line in the win for his second straight GNAC Player of the Week award.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK Nadir Dixon-Thompson, St. Joseph (Conn.) (Fr., F/C - Dorchester, Mass.) Dixon-Thompson averaged 12.0 points and 11.0 rebounds in a two-game week for USJ. After registering four points and eight caroms on Tuesday at Dean, the 6-9 center exploded on Sunday at RIC for his first career double-double with 20 points and 14 boards. On the week, the rookie shot 50.0% (10-20 FG) overall and connected on all four of his attempts at the FT line.

WEEK 3 HONOR ROLL
Jahmerikah Green-Younger, Albertus Magnus (Jr., G - Norwalk, Conn.) - In a two-game week, Green-Younger averaged 17.0 points, 3.5 rebounds and 2.0 steals while shooting 36.4% (8-22 FG) in just 26.0 minutes per game. He registered 14 points, four rebounds, an assist and a steal in the loss to Keene State before posting a 20-point, three-steal performance in the win over Mitchell. 

Jourdain Bell, Colby-Sawyer (Sr, G - Manchester, N.H.) - Bell registered a single-game record nine steals to help the Chargers earn an 80-72 non-league victory over Plymouth State in the lone game of last week. Bell previously held the single-game record of eight steals, which he accomplished last November. The senior finished the game with 17 points, seven rebounds, six assists and only two turnovers.

Jack Moulder, Emmanuel (Mass.) (So, F - Newtown, Conn.) - Moulder netted a career and game-high 22 points (8-15 FG) in Emmanuel's 91-51 victory over Curry, connecting on 5-of-10 three-pointers in 26 minutes of action. The sophomore added three rebounds to go along with one assist and one steal in the Saints' win.

Ademola Afonja, Regis (Mass.) (Sr., F - Staten Island, N.Y.) - Afonja scored 21 points to go with five rebounds to lead Regis to an 88-70 victory over Framingham State last Tuesday. Afonja shot 8-of-14 from the field and 5-of-6 from the FT line, as he led the Pride's 13-0 spurt to start the game with eight of those points, giving Regis a lead it would never relinquish.

Jack Casale, Saint Joseph's (Maine) (Sophomore, G - Portland, Maine) - Casale registered his second double-double of the young season with 22 points and 12 rebounds in an 83-79 victory over Southern Maine on Sunday night. The sophomore guard shot 53.3% (8-15) from the field and 44.4% (4-9) from three-point land and added a pair of steals in the hard fought triumph.
