Rivier College junior Jess Mellen was selected as the GNAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week and Suffolk University freshmen Julianne Conrad was named the GNAC Women's Basketball Rookie of the Week for the week ending on January 12, 2009.

Women's Basketball Jess Mellen  Rivier    Jr    Rockland, MA
In a 2-1 week for the Raiders, Mellen simply filled up the stat sheet. For the week, Jess averaged a double-double of 15.67 points and 12 rebounds. In addition, Mellen averaged 5 assists and nearly 3 steals per game. In the conference opener, Jess had 23 points, 17 rebounds, 6 assists, 4 steals and 2 blocks.  (Points 47    Rebounds 36    Assists 15)  
              

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Julianne Conrad   Suffolk    Fr    West Bridgewater, MA
Julianne's 21 point performance helped lead Suffolk to a 58-46 victory over Lesley College, Thursday evening. She also had 6 steals in the game. (Points 21      Rebounds 4    Assists 0)
